Introduction:
Collaborative approach helps in bringing all the people together in addition to forming a pool of experience, ideas, thoughts and skills. In collaborative approach, it is required that team members are sharing a healthy relation. They are open for sharing knowledge, thoughts and ideas. Team members required a good supporting system to keep their enthusiasm and motivation high. The simulation is great example of effective conflict management by using accommodating, competing and collaborative approaches.
Answer:
In the present conflict situation team has four members Adam, Douglas, Eileen and Emily. Conflict arises in the team since beginning when Douglas, Eileen and Emily presented their concepts for RTV soap. During team meeting, team members did not listen to each other’s concepts properly. All team members displayed a very uncooperative behavior and wanted to go ahead with their own concept. The objective of the team was also not very clear because in all their meetings they never talked about deadline. The approach used by all members was competing instead of cooperating. The matter was further worsened when Douglas and Eileen shown that they are not ready to compromise and can resign. Adam being a senior person in the team should have asked for more detail on two concepts that were initiated by the team. He gave his decision just by listing the main idea of concepts.
The situation started improving when team leader asked all the team members to explain their concepts in detail. All team members respected his order and provided the details of their concepts. During the last meeting the approach used by team members was collaborative. They were thinking in one direction that was to meet deadlines. Emily, who earlier wanted to prove her idea, agreed on putting her idea for any other soap.
Conclusion:
After above discussion we may conclude that the approach used by team members depends upon various factors like team leaders, organizational environment, proper communication, healthy relation and the like. A great team leader knows how he can resolve the conflict.
