Summary and Recommendations Assessment Report
Introduction and Overview
Answer specific questions- The authors argue that any research that is being conducted is aimed at answering specific questions from the society concerning a particular issue affecting that society. For example, when one is undertaking research concerning alcohol and drug addict, he or she is trying to answer pertinent questions regarding that issue (Lichtenberger et.al, 2004). Therefore, it is through the psychological reports that a scientist answers the questions concerning such issues. Furthermore, the report is an overview of the research containing the answers to the research questions and hypotheses.
Treatment Plan-Another objective of the psychological report is to provide a treatment plan regarding a particular problem. Ideally, it is crucial for the scientific research to give out go ahead on the remedy of the problem. According to Linctenberger and Mather, 2004 treatment plan is the guideline on how the problem or issue at hand will be remedied. For example, a doctor can write a report on particular diseases such as cancer and provide the treatment plan to the person who will handle such a report.
Conceptualize or formulate the case- A psychological report is geared towards forming a particular problem that will necessitate further research to address the problem fully. The report facilitates an outline of the issue in the mind of an individual who is going to undertake further research to provide future remedies on similar problems that might arise.
Monitor progress-The authors argue that report is an important guide that provides the progress on a problem in the society. According to them, a problem might have been subjected to treatment in the society. It is, therefore, the responsibility of the report to ensure that the treatment of the problem is effectively monitored. If the treatment deviates from the recommended treatment plan, then it might affect the treatment outcome. The report is tailored towards a psychological assessment of the problem at hand, and through it, a referral question can be assessed if the objectives have been attained through pretreatment plan (Lichtenberger et.al, 2004).
According to Willey, the goals and objectives of a psychological report can assist in the treatment of an individual who might be alcoholic or drug addicts. For instance, after undertaking the research on the impacts of alcohol addiction and drug abuse, the scientist can write a report and recommend a treatment plan for remedying the situation. It is through the report that an individual handling the alcohol addiction and drug abuse at hand can monitor the progress of the individuals who have been subjected to treatment regarding the alcohol addiction or drug abuse (Perkison, 2012).
According to the Stewart and Connors on Screening for alcohol problems, the primary aim of writing a psychological report is to pass particular information to the target audience. It is, therefore, important to ensure that the reports is easy to understand and provides the intended information in a symbol way. The technical aspects of a psychological report according to Stewart and Connors include ensuring that the report smoothly flows, and there are minimal efforts that the reader is required to have to read and comprehend data on the specific issue (Stewart & Connors, 2004/2005). It is also of great importance for the person writing the report, especially on drug addiction to present the details of the problem in an orderly, functional and meaningful manner. The consistency of the data is also important, and it will allow the report reader to effectively analyze the intentions of the report. What is more, it is crucial to avoid using jargons or terms that do not have any relationship with the problem being addressed. For instance, when writing a report on alcohol addiction or drug abuse, it is significant to use jargons that allow for easy comprehension of alcoholic and drug related issues.
Referral and Background Information
A psychologist might be required to refer an individual for further treatment. This is often witnessed whenever the patient has critical situations that require specialized treatment. Writing a report is essential in referring an individual to hospitals or areas that have special equipment or specialized personal for handling the problem. For instance, when rehabilitating an individual who is an alcoholic addict, it is important for the person referring the individual to a rehabilitation center to provide reliable history concerning the issue at hand, provide access to medical history and records (Stewart & Connors, 2004/2005). It is also significant to provide a family history of the person being rehabilitated. Patients who require psychometric screening should be accompanied by a report indicating exactly what is required from the psychologist handling the referral case. The report should indicate the steps that were taken to arrive at an effective screening of the problem. At the end of the referral reports, it is essential to provide an explanation of the terms used to allow for easy understanding of the report.
Recommendations
Addiction reports are significant for treating individuals who are alcohol and drug addicts. It is important to address the problem through proper screening and knowing the period at which an individual has been suffering from the problem. Accordingly, the following recommendations are important for adequate handling of the addiction problem.
It is crucial to undertake observations on the individual who is an alcohol addict. Observations include the behavior of the individual, the frequency of using the drug and the effects of withdrawal from the drug. The American Psychological Association and other governing standards, recommends that effective solving of the problem is to undertake keen observation on the causes of the problem and their possible remedies (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).
It is also important to undertake various potential strategies rather than sticking on few remedies only. It is crucial to take into consideration both the therapeutic techniques and non-therapeutic techniques. These techniques will allow for effective interaction between the psychologists and the patient at hand.
