The telehealth platform is already expanding across the world and has begun to influence the traditional in-person care available in multispecialty hospitals. In light of having various state-of-the-art facilities, our organization has got huge potential for launching telehealth services in the immediate future. Based on my research and discussion with a senior clinician in our hospital about the opportunities in store for our organization in the field of telehealth, I foresee a lot of benefits. Some of the salient advantages are listed below:
Telehealth services allow rural patients populated in remote clusters to avail health services from consultants without leaving their places. At the same time, it also gives us the advantage of networking with several care providers located in rural areas with limited expertise towards improving the timeliness of care (“Healthcare access in rural communities,” 2016).
Our experts in cardiovascular and pediatric care can effectively use telehealth services to monitor patients who cannot travel long distances by associating with nursing call centers. Besides, we can provide traumatic care during off-hours as well.
As per the report of National Institute of Health, 25.8 million people in the US suffer from diabetes (McGee, 2012). Many chronically ill patients, including those suffering from diabetes and asthma, do not get proper care either because they no longer consider it as a health challenge or due to the cost involved in visiting a specialist. As telehealth service providers we can give cost effective remote care to patients across the nation.
Our organization has several outstanding specialists in the fields of cardiovascular, stroke, trauma and child care. Telehealth helps us to take their expert care to individuals in faraway places who cannot afford to personally meet with them.
