Organization: Teen Athletic League
Introduction
Arguably, ethics is the heart of any organization in the world today. Regardless of whether the organization is a profit making or non-profit making, ethics forms the base of success, and achievement of goals. Ethical organizations do not just happen, but are built and developed. In building an ethical organization, it is advisable to begin by adhering to organizational mission, vision, as well as creating an ethical organizational culture. In a non-profit making organization, financial gain is not an issue, but rather focusing on ethics among its employees and members is fundamental. In building an ethical organization, all stakeholders in the organization should understand that moral and ethical priorities are crucial than financial priorities. Ethics automatically triumph all other missions and vision of the organization (Karakas & Kavas, 2009).
Description of organization
The organization is known as Teen Athletic League. It is a non-profit making sports oriented organization for both teenage girls and boys in seventh through to twelfth grade. Teen Athletic League serves teens from Nassau, Clay, Dual, Baker, as well St. Johns counties. The Teen Athletic League offers activities for boys and girls. Boys and girls are invited to different sports activities, where boys participated in baseball, basketball, football, swimming, and field and track. On the other hand, girls participated and are invited for flag football, softball, basketball, swimming, and field and track. The turn up of the participants was tremendous, especially the boys. All participants belonged to the same age group, where they would share ideas and experiences. Of all the sports that took place, soccer and cheer leading’s co-ed sports. When the organization invited boys and girls for the events, they were categorized in accordance with their age group (Elving & Wim, 2011).
Mission statement
The Teen Athletic League’s mission is to provide all capable children in seventh through twelfth grade the opportunity to participate in sports activities regardless of their parents’ ability to afford financial obligation. The mission is extremely accommodative in that it incorporated most of the age group, who were active and energetic. On the other hand, the staff at the Teen Athletic League is committed to providing resources to procure financial assistance to low income families who wish to participate in our program. From the Building an ethical organization part 1, it is clear that without a committed staff the organization will not fulfill its missions, and attaining its objectives. Despite the fact, the Teen Athletic League is a non-profit making organization finance is a crucial factor in running the sports programs offered by the organization. The organization welcomed all boys and girls regardless of their financial problems (Elving & Wim, 2011). This was achieved through the good work of the special team. The teen Athletic League employs specialists whose main goal is to obtain funds from various sources so that our organization may continue to thrive.
Education on sports is equally indispensable in the lives of the teens. Therefore, another mission of the Teen Athletic League is to provide education about the rules and guidelines of sports in which they play health, fitness, dedication, discipline, as well as strong moral character. Probably, participating in various sports is not enough; teens need to develop in an all-rounded manner (Small, 2006). The organization is focused permanently in influencing the lives of families and children who make up our clients. The organization strives to produce model citizens, by encouraging what is positive and discouraging all the negatives. The staff at the Teen Athletic Leagues makes it our business to steadfastly uphold our values so that we may be a pillar of positivity in our community. Analytically, the organization is fully driven by commitment of staff and cooperation of the clientele.
The Teen Athletic League focuses on education; hence, their intent is to offer scholarship opportunities to students who mostly deserve. Students, who exemplified in adhering to what the Teens Athletic League stands for, were rewarded accordingly. Students who qualified for the scholarship were chosen based on services, letters of recommendation, grades, as well as essay rewards. It was clear that students worked hard to enjoy the privileges and awards. The reward increased the level of performance of students in different fields. In fact, most students focused more on education matters through sports. Certainly, a good number of students received scholarships based on the stated criterion. The staff ensured that the rewards were family given to students on merit (Elving & Wim, 2011).
The founders of the Teen Athletic League believe in upholding ethical standards. It is also our mission to be transparent in all the practices, so that the community trusts and have confidence in us. Perhaps, in the course of the schedule many individuals in the society believed in our organization being the light of the community.
Value statement
Undoubtedly, the Teen Athletic League’s value system is based on education, respect, health, honesty, discipline, dedication, and positivity. These values ensure that the organization operates ethically. In fact, these value statements of the Teen Athletic League form the basis of building an ethical organization, as well as being a guide towards achievement of its mission. Respect means that the staff and the participants in the Teen Athletic League should respect each other. The staff and participants maintained their respect in keeping a decent and clean appearance. Respect is a double-edged sword, meaning you must respect others the same way you want to be respected. It being a sports organization, players should respect the sport and fellow players, staff, and their coaches.
As an organization, education is imperative in school and out. Therefore, the organization pushed for education. Healthy issues are also prominent in the organization; hence, the Teen Athletic League supports health lifestyles. If participants and staff stay unhealthy then the entire organization will shutdown. This is achieved by educating participants on the importance of staying healthy through exercise and diet (Small, 2006). Statistics of our organizations shows that a few numbers of health issues were reported, but as participant s continued to exercise, it reduced tremendously. Honesty and discipline makes the values in the organization. Participants and staff were encouraged to be honest and open to each other about organization practices and policies. One of tools for employment was dedications. The Teen Athletic League employed dedicated staffs who were focused on organizations goal. The students learnt the value of dedication from the staff. Positivity entails being optimistic of the purpose, only dedicated in building up, never to tear down.
Code of ethics
Code of ethics in the Teen Athletic League is intended to be a guide to everyday professional conduct, and responsibility execution. The main goal of having code of ethics in our organization is to steer us through tough decision making, as well as keeping our staff and students out of harm. Purposively, code of ethics at the Teen Athletic League serves as a standard of behavior for participants and the staff (Karakas & Kavas, 2009).
The code of ethics where as follows; -
Participants and staff shall respect the welfare, dignity, and rights of all people. All boys and girls will receive equal treatment. Discrimination and favoritism are grounds for dismissal.
Participants should adhere to confidentiality.
Participants shall comply by the sports dress code provided by our organization particularly sport invited.

The staff shall always be dedicated to the course of our organization.

The Teen Athletic League shall solve any conflict that arises, and punish the culprits.
Perhaps, the code of ethics, like the mission and value statement was drafted and analyzed by those individuals who are mostly involving in the Teen Athletic League. The code is part of inspiration to employee because it creates a friendly working environment, where respect prevails for all. The code of ethic is related to mission and value statement, as it only guides towards the achievement of the mission statements of the organization. For maximum development and success, the Teen Athletic League through the stated code of ethics ensure that all activities in the organization is aligned with, and linked to organizations ultimate mission (Karakas & Kavas, 2009).
Organizational culture
Organizational culture refers to behaviors and values that contribute to the unique psychological and social environment in our organization. I would like to foster an enduring, durable, flexible, and sustainable organizational culture based on ethics, and focused on achieving our mission. Our culture is to be focused on creating positive change; this is because we believe our success in changing the lives of boys and girls invited depends on organizational culture. Our organizational culture plans to foster an organizational culture with three main functions; it includes encouraging stability, behavioral control, as well as providing source of identity. The Teen Athletic League culture is reflected in our sports physical infrastructure, language, routine behavior, ceremonies, equality, as well as philosophical guidelines. All members of the Teens Athletic League share the value statements stated; hence, it constitutes to dominant organizational culture (Elving & Wim, 2011).
Leadership
In our organization, leadership is one of the core values that drive all other activities. Most of the organizations in the world have failed to achieve their objectives because of poor leadership. Individuals in the managerial positions should be innovative and adaptive. I have built a culture in which individuals develop leadership though leading instead of developing it through learning. Actually, the role of a leader is to deliver what is expected of him.
Certainly, for the success of the Teen Athletic League I will take the Smart approach to leadership. This approach elaborates on things leaders should do in order to achieve effective results. This includes strategy, measurement, accountability, results, as well as taking responsibility. As a leader, I would work with the participants and staff in achieving the objective. In fact, leadership style that is most appropriate for our organization is participative.
As a leader, I would develop an organizational culture by defining our culture to the staff and participants. Defining it makes all the members aware on the culture to be followed in the organization. Additionally, I would integrate and maintain the culture through the hiring process, how I treat employees, how I treat participants, as well as improving entire environment of the organization. In order to grow within the culture, I would develop a plan, which will guide in implementing and integrating new changes in the organization. As a leader, my moral responsibility is to ensure that all participants are treated equally, and counter check on their well-being (Small, 2006). In addition, I would be responsible in ensuring that the participant’s needs are cared for in all sports. During the employment process, it s my moral responsibility to ensure that the appointments are done on merit.
Oversight
Maintaining ethical standards in our organization are extremely valuable. The maintenance of ethics in our organization could be measured by analyzing the number of boys and girls that turn up for the sports. Additionally, the outcome on behavior change can also be a toll of measuring organization ethical progress. Real life scenarios within the organization measure the performance in maintaining an ethical standard (Small, 2006). In managing ethical standard in organization, various factors should be adhered to; it includes listen, review ethics standards, as well as understanding what is right or wrong. For oversight purposes, I would select a committee that comprises this staff and participants. The committee, should be all-inclusive, their work is to collect information, and report to management on the progress of the organization.
Conclusion
Conclusively, organizational image should be built on ethics. The Teen Athletic League has tremendously changed the live of boys and girls between seventh through to twelfth grade. Our organization does not only focus on the sports but also on the educational, social, and psychological growth of children. Driven by our mission and value statement we believe we will achieve our objectives. We are a non-profit making organization; hence, we are not driven by financial gains, but rather guided and led by ethics.
