Although I have been very fortunate to accomplish my goal of owning a successful business, I am still quite passionate about earning a college degree. For the past sixteen years, I've gained invaluable experience as a restaurant owner employing twenty workers, yet I've found that nothing compares to a ollege education. This is why I have chosen to apply for admission at Empire State College, one of the state's most adult friendly learning institutions The flexible class structure would allow me to continue running my business just as I do today, while working towards my goal of earning an Associate Degree in Science. The online classes offered at Empire State College would provide the flexibility I need to balance both my business and personal obligations. Because of the flexible academic structure, my responsibilities will never hinder my learning potential. As a student of Empire State College I would be able to successfully pursue my degree. I have chosen Empire State College not only for the convenience of class structure, but also for the academic programs offered. As a proud business owner, I am always looking for ways to enhance my business. I believe a great way to continue growing in my field would be to attend Empire State College and earn an Associate's Degree in Science. This degree would give me the tools I need to better serve my customers, as well as the aspiration to continue on and study for a Bachelor's Degree in the future. I have always been a perfectionist, which is one of the reasons why my current restaurant was offered to me as an hourly worker. During my sophomore year at Brevard Community College, I was offered the opportunity to purchase the restaurant where I was employed. I accepted the offer and have been in business ever since. Thinking back, I am exceptionally proud to have made the choices I've made, however I do regret never completing my education. If I am allowed to attend Empire State College, I hope to earn my Associate's Degree in Science and go on to earn a Bachelor's Degree as well. Because of the passion I have for education, I see myself earning my Master's Degree in business in the future and going on to buy a new business after selling the restaurant I currently have. Owning a business does not mean education is no longer necessary; being an educated business owner gives me the power to run my restaurant efficiently on all levels. The knowledge I receive as a hard working student of Empire State College would provide not only the skills, but the mindset needed to become a better business owner and manager. Empire State College believes in success and so do I. Education seems to be much more than a commodity to this institution. This is clearly shown through the relentless effort to offer classes which are customized to fit each individual’s needs. Being able to cater to the unique lifestyles of each individual student makes Empire State College an exceptional institution for adults who wish to continue their education. Even though I firmly believe in the power of education, achieving my goal had begin to feel unattainable due to my hectic schedule- but suddenly going to school at 39 doesn’t feel impossible anymore This is only possible because of schools such as Empire State College which are willing to work with students and their unique schedules, making it possible to achieve their goals of earning a college degree. Even with sixteen years of experience working in the food industry as a restaurant owner and manager earning a degree would be an honor for me. Education has no limits and age is never a factor when it comes to achieving your goals. This is why I will never waiver when it comes to earning my degree. If accepted, I will do everything in my power to succeed as a student if allowed to attend Empire State College.
