Today’s labor sector can be described as highly competitive. The high unemployment rate means that there are more workers than the number of jobs available. This is the reason why I think that this workshop is very valuable. I can no longer rely on my own qualifications and skills to land a job. It is necessary that I have the right networks in the industry where I want to be a part of. Networking will make me more knowledgeable of the industry practices, the opportunities it offers and the prospects that it can expect in the future. The workshop is beneficial because it offers guidelines on how I can get the job that I want. Another important learning in this workshop is the discussion on ethical and legal issues that I must be aware of when I become part of the labor sector. The workshop reminds me that although getting a job is my goal, it is essential that I do not put aside my morals and values.

I believe that being part of LinkedIn will help boost my career. Since LinkedIn is a large database of professionals, it will be to my advantage to be part of this network. Another advantage of LinkedIn is that I will be able to get in touch with former classmates and I can also be easily found. I can be part of a group which is composed of people of the same expertise as I have. I can then join the discussion boards to learn about the latest news on my industry and get information on job vacancies. Creating my profile in LinkedIn was quite challenging because I have to make sure that even if someone makes a quick glimpse at my profile, he must already get a clear idea of my qualifications and accomplishments. The profile I created includes my educational background, relevant work experience, current occupation and some personal information. I had to request my current boss and co-employee to make a good recommendation so it can be included in my profile.
- Critical reflection
The eportfolio developed encompasses everything that I need to know about a person. It gives ample information about the person’s educational background, special courses taken and employment record. Aside from these vital data, the eportfolio contains the individual’s future career plans. It also presents his plan to take further studies, believing in the concept of lifelong learning. The statement of the career goals is an essential part of the eportfolio because it gives an indication of the direction that he intends to take, both in his professional and personal life. Specific goals were set by the individual.
The data on the employment record of the person is quite extensive. Details on the responsibilities and duties handled are included to give a better view of the capabilities of the individual.
The eportfolio is comprehensive, well-organized and can easily be understood by its readers. The eportfolio attached will provide its reader a clear assessment of the person’s growth and future plans. Valuable information is presented. The eportfolio showcases the achievements of the person. Moreover, I appreciate the inclusion of the section on social and ethical responsibility. This section gives a preview of the type of person and how he will react or decide on ethical issues that he will face.
I find the eportfolio quite extensive because of the numerous details included. The eportfolio is an effective way of evaluating a person because of the longitudinal view it offers. Tracing an individual’s growth and development would have been difficult if a simple resume is presented, instead of an eportfolio.
