The three things that i wish had been discussed more in detail and explained extensively are as follows; the first one is the traditional religion that was practised by people in America before the establishment of Christianity. What ceremonies were performed then and if the religion is still being practiced up to now (Kunin, 2003). Another topic is the critical look at the bible and thirdly a critical look at the Koran. This is because these two are the books used and followed by Christians and Muslims respectively. They are famous for having satanic verses that were placed there to allow for their acceptance in the first societies but not because the people who wrote believed to be so. I would like to know more by analyzing the specific reason behind these verses.
The three things that shocked me were; first of all was the beginning of crusades, today the word means people coming together to listen to summons however in the beginning a crusade was a war that was launched, War in the name of God (Kunin, 2003). The other thing that shocked was the beginning of Islam, it merely started because Mohammed went up into the caves and stated that Allah had talked to him and from all the conversations and revelations he got from the caves he got someone to write the Koran as he was an illiterate man. The other thing was the main reason behind the protesting from the Catholic Church. This was because there was use of religion to exploit people a good instance was when people would be asked to pay after going for a confession depending on the sins one had committed.
The useful topic that captured me because it is applicable in everyday life is contemporary Christianity. This is because it is based on influential people like Sara Miles, who helps the unfortunate in the society without judgement or discrimination. Through a determined heart and se mind she has helped many and she has shown that Christianity was truly meant for the lost sheep and not the found (Miles, 2008). Through this topic I have learnt that one does not need to have a lot of money and influence to be able to make a difference in the society.
