Strategic planning refers to a process where an organization identifies its targets and goals, and determines how it will accomplish them. It is vital for organizations to determine their goals so as to ensure they have a clear path towards achieving their goals (Bixby et al, 2011). As part of strategic planning, organizations need to determine who should get involved and how they will become involved in the planning process. This paper, seeks to identify and specify the roles of stakeholders involved in a strategic planning process for a non profit organization for tutoring children.
Successful strategic plans require input from external and internal stakeholders (Bixby et al, 2011). The following stakeholders are vital for the success of the tutoring program forwarded by the non-profit organization; families, schools, communities, students, and the non-profit organization staff. The families are to set at helping the organization identify the students who require tutoring. Schools, through their staff should help the organization to recruit students in need of tutoring. Schools should also provide curriculums to the organization to ensure the organization’s program are in tandem with theirs (Bixby et al, 2011). Community leaders should help with spreading communication on the importance of tutoring offered by the organization. Students also need to be part of the stakeholders through representation. Students need to understand the role and importance of tutoring. The non profit organization staff is also a vital stakeholder. They are charged with creating the required programs for tutoring to ensure that students reap the benefits of their goal and mission.
The families and students as stakeholder need to be open minded about the tutoring program (Bixby et al, 2011). The community should become vocal and supportive of the program. The schools should also become supportive towards the organization’s goals and program. The organization staff should become goal oriented, hardworking, and supportive towards the other stakeholders.
