The nursing informatics have been applied in the field of nursing to improve the quality of services in the health care institution. The nursing practise, administration, and education and research are boosted by the use and application of informatics in the field of medicine. the body which regulates the nursing informatics is known as the American nurses association. This body regulates the set the required standards that are applied in the nursing field. The term nursing informatics refers to the integration of the science of nursing, computer and information science to collect, store ,analysis, manage, retrieve, and communicate the data, information and knowledge towards the practise of nursing. The information is used by the plaintiffs, the healthcare providers, the next of kin, health insurance companies, and the policy makers in decision making. this is made a reality by the application of the knowledge of information technology and computers in the organization of the data that is captured.
The American nursing association must echo the performance of the health informatics professionals. The process of incorporation of informatics is of great importance in the field of nursing. It involves the use of new technologies, to accomplish the goals towards impacting computer illiteracy to nurses (Lawless 2003). The field of nursing informatics is faced by challenges, they include the, difficulties of adopting the technology for nurses have no computer knowledge, inadequate personnel to teach the required skills, few education programs to teach in this new field and the lack of enough technological resources in the teaching institutions
RN-MS PROGRAM
The author are J .Aroian and O. Breton from the university of north eastern in New York. The program involved the RN-MS students who attended a facility seminar and come out with the typed portfolio with the use of word processing software in the admission of the program.
The theoretical framework
It was developed from the Knowles’ andragogy that look on the adult learner needs. The Benner’s application of the model of Dreyfus is also useful to them. andragogy was aimed at helping the adults to learn having its basis on needs. An assumption is made. It states the RN-MS students had knowledge and skills in this field to be used for learning. Their human and developmental stage ensures that they are always ready to solve problems. This serves as a motivation to them. the students called Hein stand and O’Dea applied the adragagory in the framework to study the education in graduates for the already registers nurses (Lawless 2003). The input of Benner’s assist in the understanding of practical and theoretical knowledge in the field of nursing. This students of north eastern university observed their work as word processed narratives of major occurrences in the Benner’s workshop on their practise in nursing (Arnold 2002).
The methods
Design-vivid and tentative in nature, it combines both the qualitative and quantitative ways. Trial- eighty five RN-MS students who applied the typed portfolio of the software in word processing in the admittance course of action. The samples involved women with 17 yrs experience in nursing.

Data scrutiny- the quantitative measures are sorted with the help of SPSS and T tests whereby the qualitative measures applies the hyper research
Results
The students admitted in the program are needed to be computer literate. The students emerged with the skills in computer use at the end. The RN-MS students could apply the word processing skills as observed from the exemplars when applying the Benner’s theoretical work (Arnold 2002). The entire students could come out with their own portfolio when applying the knowledge of word processing.
It was concluded that the selected group of experienced nurses were able to prepare for graduate programs in the education seminars and in the masters degree. The aim of their education was to help them in the knowledge of computer and applying it in the nursing informatics as a qualification.
Relevance and applicability to the nursing profession
The RN-MS program is of great relevance and can be applied in the field of nursing profession. Through a training of the required standards the program will impact the nursing professionals with computer literacy that will be of a great importance in the nursing informatics. Other qualifications that the nurses will be equipped with includes the computer applications in spreadsheets, the management of database, the interpretation and analysis of data and the knowledge in software presentation like the PowerPoint (Aroian 2005). The computer skills will enable the nurses to use the computers in the collection of the patients data, analysis of the data thus making recommendations that are needed. The nurses will be able to use the health related software programs in their profession. The communications methods are also supported the use of emails and networks between different departments in the hospital setup. The knowledge of networking will improve the communication network towards quality service provision. In conclusion, the knowledge on the use of word processing soft ware’s is the basics towards the integration of the nursing informatics in the practise of nursing
