Discussion
The technological terminologies selected include clinical decision support, EHRs, nursing informatics, software, and Telehealth. As stated, clinical decision support systems (CDSs) are information system-based platforms that offer healthcare workers with patient-specific information to enhance service delivery. The best example of such a CDS would be the Zynx Health system. This CDS acts as a clinical reminder support system used by health practitioners in the consultation room to provide information on care plans given patient conditions (Campbell, 2016).
Second, EHRs are digital representations of a patient’s information maintained by providers for ease of access in clinical practice. In the healthcare environment, healthcare providers create and manage EHR''s/EMR's data for knowledge share purposes. Practically, physicians would use EHRs to share vital information about a patient’s health conditions during handovers and transfers (McGee, 2012).
Third, the nursing informatics discipline looks into the integration of nursing with information systems for the promotion of healthcare. Ideally, administration departments recruit nurse informatics to help with the development of relevant systems that facilitate service delivery. They are vital in addressing the extent to which various departments collaborate in the advent of information systems to advance healthcare (Wager, Lee, & Glaser, 2013).
Furthermore, software encompasses all types of programs used to run the physical components of PCs. The utilization of various types of software is visible in all sectors of the facility. The entire system, for instance, uses a customized EHRs to record, store, and manage patient information, from admission through to discharge. Finally, Telehealth is the utilization of communication technologies as ways of enhancing health care delivery. In the clinical setup, nurses in the post-surgical department will use telecommunication to share information on various forms of treatment plans. The communication entails different forms of care plans for patients and their families in home care environments (McGee, 2012).
