Terraforming the mars is an idea to change the planet and make the planet livable for humans. The idea has started drawing attention once again, a number of debates in several seminars have been done on this issue. The rationale behind such a hypothetical idea is the search for accommodation options for humans and to get other useful resources. Human population has just crossed the figure of seven billion and continues to grow. In this paper the idea of terraforming the red planet would be discussed.
After a number of expeditions to mars, it has been observed by the planetary scientists that there are favorable conditions for the human life. The idea has been much debated among the scientists and as other important ideas this has also two aspects. One section says that this should be implemented while others oppose this idea saying that unnecessary interference in another planet is not needed and it would bring several imbalances in the nature.
1. Requirement of alternative space for human beings- Nothing is more valuable than the human life and there is no harm in the idea if we can accommodate a growing human population at the mars.
Counter argument- But there are several others who say that Humans are responsible for the sporadic condition of the earth and we will do the same on the mars also which is not good.
2. Condition of the planet is livable- The conditions of the planet have been found good for human beings and there is no harm in shifting there.
Counter argument- But people with different opinion say that Interfering in territories that does not belong to the humans is unethical.
3. Procedure of terraforming- Astronomers says that the environment of earth would be uninhabitable for the humans in the future and optional inhabitable are required to be explored. They say that procedures are scientific and simple.
Counter argument- While People with different opinion say that A Terraforming process might affect the environment badly and further may create problems for the whole universe.
Conclusion
After observing the process of terraforming the mars and pros and cons of the whole process it is good to say that the process should be thoroughly discussed, examined and after making a unanimous consensus on the issue, any step should be taken. Though there is a requirement for the alternative space for the humans, the environment and the system should not be unnecessarily interfered.
