The church today is facing many problems, which can compare to the challenges experienced during Martin Luther’s time. Martin Luther wrote the 95 theses with the aim of opening up a channel for debate, and some of those challenges are prevalent in the church up to date. The church today has been caught up in a mix-up of sin and desire for worldly material and whenever the people need to seek repentance, they go for repentance and reconciliation from their priests in order to obtain mercy and forgiveness. After the session is over, they leave with the notion that they are as white as snow. The pope is viewed with very high regard in terms of having the ability to forgive and bless a person. The church has the belief that the pope is able to remove guilt from a person, but Martin Luther thinks otherwise in his thesis number 6 (Iclnet.org.).
Christians in today’s church have the tendency to ignore the needy people, and take their money to the church with the hope that they would be pardoned of their sins. They are self-centered and only want to contribute to anything that they think is of benefit to them. Generally speaking, the church has become so money oriented today to the point where almost everything is conducted in accordance with what has more financial value and gains.
The conclusion of the matter is that the Church today keeps plunging deeper and deeper into confusion, and it seems things are headed for the worse since most of the Christians are more focused on profiting and not humbling themselves before God so as to live a life that is led by Christ and the Holy Spirit.
