Our ancestors were living in the villages and had their own farms in the earlier times. The diet, they used to consume was natural and pure. Several research studies show that unlike earlier times, our diet is lacking various vitamins and minerals, important for the human body. Majority of the Americans are found lacking in Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Magnesium and Calcium. Many Americans meet their requirements of vitamins and minerals by adding dietary supplements.
American diet does not only lack the important nutrition but also it has excessive amount of components like sugar, cheese, butter, carbohydrates and fat which gives extra and undesired calories to the body. Americans diet includes lots of junk food like soft and alcoholic beverages, sweets, chocolates, pizzas, sandwiches, deserts and snacks. These foods do not provide any nutrition and are good in taste only. This pattern of food intake is making Americans obese and undernourished.
Another factor that contributes in the unhealthy diet of Americans is the lifestyle of the people. People do not want to cook at their homes and instead of that People prefer using packed food and eating out. The packed and outside food is full of preservatives, oils and unhealthy things.
Obesity and undernourishment is becoming a major concern in the America and further it invites various health problems. Several health problems like diabetic, blood pressure, heart problem occur due to the obesity and malnutrition. The Quality of food is important than quantity and selection of right food is much required than reducing the quantity of junk food.
