The Amish live strongly within their culture and core values. Their traditional way of life offer them with little life expectations. However, it is evident that their expectations are realistic and achievable compared to what the modern American man struggles to achieve.
The question of values of the Amish is however worth debatable. Their attitudes towards religious groups, child rearing, education, race and even the role of women are somehow distasteful and offensive. They are still under the morals that guided our forefathers many years ago. In the modern life, such things are no longer relevant. The only thing people forget is wisdom. Amish prevalence in wisdom in which defines humanity and family makes them adorable. This has grown to the extent of creating an association to market products that only benefit the modern man. For instance, much computer software features a photo of barefooted Amish boy. Contrarily, the purpose is only to advertise and not to benefit the poor boy. The Amish reluctance in greediness to self maneuver leads them to losses. They seem not to suffer from envy and impotence that people pay for modernity.
Goal succession is one of the characteristics of a cultural system and the Amish can count success on that view. Their limit to higher level of achievement is a kind of a reward. Guided by humility, community and simplicity, it makes no sense for someone to limit their lives. Although integrating Amish way of living to that of an American family is a step back towards realizing the American dream, we are still one. Whether it is a rural virtue or a new world existing, it still makes a little difference.
