(identify the problem like the example showsyou can have more than one just be sure to identify them accordingly)
Problem 1: Stress approach
Check stress at work place
Stress is the extreme or negative reaction that people have to excessive pressures and other types of demand that are placed on them at work. Stress at workplace may be a major cause of illness and is known to be associated with high levels of sickness absence, staff output and other issues such as more error. Contrary to stress, pressure can be positive and motivating factor. One who is stressed feels disappointed, alienated, and see themselves as failures.
Check causes of stress
Some of the causes of stress are; job demands, work control, support, relationships, role, and change. On demands, employees indicate that workers are able to manage demands in their work. It is important for a nurse to establish what the patient thinks is the cause of stress. If stress is not solved it proceeds to become depression.
Problem 2: Depression Approach
Check for suicidal ideation
This is a situation whereby a patient’s mind is preoccupied with suicide. It is important to determine the level of suicidal ideation which may just be a simple fleeting or planning, playing a role, harming oneself or unsuccessful suicidal attempts. Most people who undergo this condition normally make suicide attempts. It is usually linked to depression as well as other psychiatric disorders. A nurse needs to create a warm and welcoming environment for the patient to share the experiences over depression and whether he or she has ever attempted suicide. Each patient needs to be assured that the information they reveal will not be disclosed to anyone without their consent. Check nutritional intake
It is important to check the nutritional intake show signs of depression. When one is depressed, that person is likely to have very low appetite and take less food. I order to determine whether one has reduced nutritional intake, a nurse needs to ask the patient the normal food intake before that person fell sick. After giving the patient food, one can easily observe the amount of food that patient is taking compared with the normal food intake. From this the nurse will be able to know whether there is decreased nutritional intake. Problem3: Schizophrenia
This is an advanced form of mental disorder characterized by fear, anxiety, and hallucination among other mental problems. A psychiatric nurse can determine this problem and its extent by observing the patient’s behavior. A patient who occasionally experiences symptoms of schizophrenia is always wild and tends to do things out of their minds. 3. What type of preventive measures could have been taken to eliminate the problem or problems you identified?
Psychological disorders can be easily prevented if it is only taken as a social responsibility. If one is going through it is important for friends and family members to talk to them to understand the source of the stress and how to solve it. Complicated cases of mental disorders only begin with simple stress just because one has been prevented from achieving his or her goals. 4. Identify one agency in the community that would be of help to an individual dealing with one psycho-social problem you identified.
