Encompassing the group detailed recorded findings and research on the probe about experiences of web users experience when using different Web browsers. Keeping in mind the aim of this probe delivered by means of Identifying and distinguishing peculiarities of certain Web Browsers, which in the long run will lead to a reduction of the user’s attitude and experiences when using certain web pages. Each of the three methods used came along with their fair share of challenges. Each group member had their own valid merits and demerits regarding the use of certain Web Browsers over others. This brought up indifferences among the most preferred or Browser. On the same note, it enlightened some members on the most efficient Browser to adapt in regards to speed, availability of plug-ins and back –up features as well.
During the observation part of our study done by each member, we did notify the people we were studying on. This was to avoid any misjudgement as others might take it as a breach of privacy. We still got the information required. Its downside is that we might have observed more if we hadn’t notified anyone. People would tend to be themselves when they think that no one is keeping an eye. While trying to note the time a user spends on a Web Browser was also challenging. As others will have opened a different window or file the minute the page starts up.
Interviewing also brought its challenges with it, without knowing the level of maybe education or technological understanding, different but valid views would be recorded. When trying to note the user’s experiences, some being people we relate to and interact with, basic questions would apply. Challenges would arise when probing a more learned or technological informed interviewee. Some would require follow ups in order to explain terms used. Its upside comes in noting the person knowhow in the specific questioned field. This would assist as an interviewer would know which question would be proper to be asked or not.
Relating to the special contribution by the three clearly channels of attaining the required information, their upside would be applicable. When it came to journaling it was evident that some of our members had much Intel regarding the Web Browsers than others. Clarification of the fastest among the Web Browsers was done and Google Chrome noted as the fastest Web Browser. It was evident as well that all the Web Browser studied were compatible with any operating system as long as it withholds the same performance requirements.
Regarding the observational method, we noted that very few people or probably none as using Internet Explore choosing to go for Firefox which in turn has many enhancements. Also back up availability may also be counted as the reason. It was also noted that there are some Web Browsers that can be of useful help such as Chrome with its Application or extension feature.
Taking a turn on the special contribution made by the interview a channel of collecting the data, it appeared to be a development opportunity for some of us. Bringing an avenue that made possible to learn various users’ preference and the reason behind them. Them being valid, some of used would be swayed into liking a Web Browser of another on merits of efficiency. Proper administering of the question to the interviewees was evident. This would help in avoiding more enhanced or rooted questions or not, depending on the type of user. Generally much was gained as we tried and enfold different users experience when using Web Browsers.
