Teamwork and proper change management in an organization are key in enhancing success in an organization. Allied Software Corporation’s Tysons Corner has some issues such as lack of teamwork and inappropriate change management. These are two crucial issues that call for proper strategizing to foster efficiency hence good performance for the company. The following are some of the decisions that the company needs to consider in promoting efficiency.
There is a great need for the management to incorporate and build strong working groups within all the departments. Motivation is a key tool in ensuring that all the members of the organization work together for the common good of the organization. It is important to ensure that each department embraces teamwork for all its members. There should be a clear understanding among all the employees of the company. Also, each department needs to ensure that all it employees are comfortable to work with each other in attaining its purpose. Departments need to hold informal and formal meetings outside the premises just as Dave did with his team. Such togetherness would help the department members to settle their differences. By so doing, the departments would ensure strong teams exist in their departments. It is also a better way of enhancing strong interpersonal relationship among each other members of the department.
Besides, for the company to foster motivation among all its employees, it needs to involve all its employees in making the decisions important for its progress. Employees need involvement in making decisions for the company in various ways. It is a proper way if ensuring every employee provides his or her opinion on what is good for the progress of the corporation. By doing so, the company will enhance the acceptability of any change without any problem. Besides, this would ensure smooth flow of activities in various departments of the company (Frankl, 2015).
Also, it is good for the corporation to provide the essential resources for all it teams. For instance, to deal with failure to meet deadlines within the specified period, the company needs to avail enough computer hardware for all its computers. Although it may be an expensive venture for the company, it remains very crucial. Having much computer hardware within the various departments would make the employees feel comfortable hence towards meeting the planned deadlines.
Furthermore, the company should improve the knowledge and skills of all its employees through training and development programs. All the times the company makes changes; it should guarantee proper induction and training of the company employees. The worst part is treating the employees from different departments differently. Just like the company trained the Dave’s team, it is beneficial for the corporation to train the other employees from the other departments. By so doing, the company would foster equity among all its employees thus motivating them to work to ensure the common good for the company (Rich, 2007).
Moreover, the IT department needs to improve its services to ensure that the computer hardware remains in good condition all the times. It is detrimental for departments to fail for the other departments to fail to meet their deadlines due to the failure of the IT department to maintain the computers in good condition. The department needs more training to ensure that they acquire the new technological knowledge and skills required to keep all computer hardware function all the times.
Job evaluation within the company remains important in realizing the employee output. Through the job evaluation, it will be possible for the company to know whether its employees possess the required competency to meet its purpose. Also, through the job evaluation, the company will be able to determine whether each department and its members have the required workload. In so doing, the company will decide on whether more staff is required in its department. It is a better way of ensuring that employees do not get overworked. As a result, it will assist the company in settling emerging problems in some of the departments that feel they need more staff.
Finally, the company through all its managers needs to come up with realistic deadlines. The deadlines set should be subject to the resource available and technicality of the nature of the task. All the employees need to be involved in the setting of the deadlines. In such a scenario, the company is able to monitor the progress of all its activities with an ease. Since all the employees are aware of the policies and deadlines, any divergence from the set policies and deadline should make such victims accountable for their failure. As a result, the company will do away with the laziness of departments and its members thus fostering efficiency in all it departments.
In conclusion, it is true to note that teamwork, motivation, and cooperation for all the company employees is key for the success of the company. All this are possible in a company if all employees take part in the decision-making part of the company. It is through decision making whereby the management can come up with realistic strategies that cover every member of the company (Rich, 2007).
