Anger is basically a powerful emotion that if not properly handled may pose destructive results to an individual as well as to his/her loved ones. Physical fights, arguments, assault, self harm and physical abuse are some of the possible results of uncontrolled anger.
Anger negatively affects a person’s health. The continuous flood of stress chemicals associated with unmanaged anger eventually harms various body systems. Anger is thus associated with both long term and short term health problems like increase anxiety, depression, stroke, insomnia and headache. Suppressed anger usually has effects which are psychological in nature. These cause depression, drug addiction, nightmares, behaviors which are self destructive as well as eating disorders.
Anger’s destructive effects may make a person be jailed for engaging in physical destruction of another person’s property, for assault or for using illegal drugs. For instance, out of anger, a father beat his son to death for using drugs. In effect, he was charged with killing a son and subsequently jailed for fifteen years. This penalty however differs from state to state. Killing another person in some states may result in life imprisonment.
Equally, anger may make a person lose his/her life. The result of uncontrolled anger may result in death. The negative health effects and physical effects of anger may make an individual sick which in the long term leads to death. In particular, diseases like heart attack and high blood pressure, headache, higher level of anxiety associated with anger may make a person lose his/he life if not properly managed. Similarly, a person may be hospitalized and this weakens their financial stability.
