Two eminent scholars Jay Gulledge and Richard A. Muller have expressed concern in their research about Global warming and its consequences in USA. The seasonal weather changes are surprising as extreme climatic conditions have minimized the accuracy of their prediction. According to Jay Gulledge the changing climatic models are highly affected by Global warming. He compares the effect that global warming has on extreme weather conditions to a human organ; just like smoking can increase the chances of having a heart attack. The deadly emissions from greenhouses and industries have been continuously increasing. The economy also suffers when struck by extreme weather. The floods and hurricanes lead to massive destruction of property. The greatest sufferer is the common man as he has to pay extra taxes to provide for the governments Flood Insurance Scheme. The government machinery is in big debt as it has to provide for such schemes. Limiting the gas emissions will help in safeguarding the interest of the coming generation.
Global warming has lead to a worldwide increase in temperature, rising sea-level, change in rainfall patterns and destruction of life and property through natural calamities like hurricanes and storms. Even strong economies like that of USA are still struggling to deal with the nature’s fury. Renowned scholars and scientists are conducting researches on Global warming. Most of researchers blame the green house gas emissions for the increasing world temperature. Global warming adversely affects people, climate and water bodies. Extreme climatic conditions are spreading deadly diseases. The havoc brought by floods and storms causes massive infrastructural and property related losses. The entire economy has to pay a high price for ignoring and polluting nature. The government has to spend a huge amount in reconstruction and rebuilding after disasters. The cost of preventive measures is much less than the post disaster cost. The above financial burden is passed on by the government to the common man in the form of increased taxes. Some scientists have challenged the reasons behind Global warming being the most hyped issue that the country is facing. Statistical data support their claims.
The numbers of hurricanes and storms have decreased in the past hundred years. The researchers accept that fossil fuel emissions and indiscriminate use of energy for heat by humans is a major reason behind increased temperatures worldwide but, the extreme weather conditions have been present even before the issue of Global warming came up. The statistical data presented by the scientists associations, refute the claim that hurricanes have been increasing. Most of the storms that devastated USA were low density storms, below the sea level. The inefficiency to deal with an emergency flood situation caused more damage. It is very important that the current generation keeps a check on global warming so that the future generation gets the opportunity to live in a safe, economically sufficient and healthy environment. The government is trying its best to reduce pollution and emissions than just panicking.
