As he looked around, birds were singing there love songs welcoming the spring, which had finally, come. The cold March was behind them all and April was finally here with weather that felt like spring. The park was beginning to fill with people, all going outside on the first day of the weekend. It was a beautiful Saturday. As Tim was sitting on a bench and enjoying his morning cup of coffee, he overheard the conversation of the father and child walking past him.
“Does this mean we can finally go on a picnic tomorrow?”, the eager young boy asked his father almost jumping with joy.
“Yes, Billy. We’ll take mom, prepare all the food and go to the big park for a whole day out tomorrow. But we’ll only be able to do so if all the homework is done”, said the dad with a stern look on his face.
“okeeeey”, replied the little boy a bit disappointed but too excited to let it get to him. After all, they were already in a park and he was going to get to play whatever happened.
Tim was in a philosophical mood. He thought of the poor kid who can’t simply enjoy the beautiful weather outside. Luckily, he was no longer living with his parents and could enjoy such a Saturday all to himself. As his cup of coffee was coming to an end, he sipped the last drops and finished it. It was time to get up and go do something. The question was - what?
The closest trashcan in sight was on the other side of the road, outside of the park. Tim had already spent a good hour here, so he took this as a sign to head in a new direction. As he was crossing the small path of the park, he had to stop himself as that very same Billy was already chasing a girl and playing tag.
“Kids find friends so easily”, though Tim, once again thrown back into his philosophical mood.
As he crossed the street, threw away the empty cup of coffee, he stopped and looked around. Ahead on the street, he saw a young girl, still in her pajamas just standing on her balcony and breathing. This was just the mood he was in. He headed towards her and watched as she started watering the plans. Then she started looking at the people below. Just as he was approaching her balcony, their eyes met. She seemed startled, as if awakened from a dream and all of a sudden, a flowerpot comes crushing.
“ouch”, though Tim, not yet capable of actually say a word.
He could barely open his eyes. As he opened one eyelid, he could see cars rushing past on the street nearby and a pile of dirt right next to him. “That must be the flower”, though Tim. Just as energy was coming back to him and he started checking what parts of his body he could move, a pair of pink slippers came running towards him. They disappeared, the pile of dirt was lifted into the air, the slippers reappeared and just like that ran away from him.
“Girls”, thought Tim. “Flowers are all that matters to them.”. And with this though a new round of philosophical thoughts connected with girl-boy relationships hit his mind.
