The Second World War influenced the relations between countries to wanting levels. America was not exceptional. The association between America and some European countries spoilt and the USA had to find a way of retaining relationship with the outside world. Several diplomatic attempts took place, whether successfully or not. One can analyze the diplomatic method; evaluate its aim, the means as well as whether they succeeded.
The general aim of all the diplomatic efforts was to restore international relations worldwide. The first effort was through approaching The Hague (International Criminal Court) in Netherlands. The efforts were Charles Hughes, a secretary of states at the time idea, and through persuasion, he enticed President Harding to get senate approval for the process. Some European treaty (Treaty of Versailles), resisted the offer and lead to its bounce back. The secretary of states wanted the USA to maintain the international trade as its size assisted it to credit other nations. It was also trading with other countries, but with a spoilt relationship with them, it was impossible to continue benefiting (Churchill 200-221).
During this period of World War II, treaties protected nations. In 1921, the secretary of state held a conference at Washington and members present represented Japan, Great Britain Japan and France. He proposed a pacific protection measure that involved sending naval forces to protect attacks. The United States was to disburse five naval vessels, and the other members could follow. Multiple treaties made for the proposal were successful, and the country made some excellent military relationship with the interested parties, which Italy joined later on. The final effort was loaning the world war substantial investors such as Germany. It created a relationship as well (Churchill 345)
