Introduction
The book explores the tragedy which struck the family of Israel-American Miko Peled. The scene is believed to have occurred in the year 1997. The book examines the thirteen years old nice by the name Smadar of Miko Peled had been killed by the suicidal bombers in Jerusalem. Peled had been born into a prominent family. The family was described as the Zionist military.
The father to Peled was a very prominent general in the military. However, after the Israel aggression war that took place in the year 1967, his father turned to be an advocate of peace. The tragic death of his niece served as an “eye-opener”. Peled’s experience in Zionist society in terms of education, socially and other aspects of life are what challenged him to write this book. Therefore, it is prudent to note that Peled early experience and his education steered him towards writing this book. The book covers a period of between 1967-1997.
Discussion
Actually, it is prudent to appreciate the work of the author. The material is logically arranged. First and foremost, it is important to appreciate the fact that the writing styles used in this book is just superb. The book is logically organised in the sense that information follows each other in a logical and systematic manner. For instance, we can see that the events surrounding the war have been discussed before the consequences.
This is strong evidence that there exist some order on how the information has been arranged fin the text. It is therefore important to recommend the author for the work well done. The material can also be said to have been logically organised considering the fact that it is divided into four sections. The first section covers the life of Matti Peled and how he strongly criticise the Israel actions especially after the 1967 war. The fact that the material has been subdivided into sections is enough to show how logical the material is.
The separate law enacted by Israeli government is what initiates the Jews to hate their friends, neighbours and some of their relatives of Palestine origin. When one has stayed in a certain country for a longer period say, ten years or more, that person should be allowed to enjoy the his rights as a citizen of that country.
In his concluding remarks, the author puts Israel lobby to task to explain why the so called “Jewish and democratic state” go against the international law the human rights laws. They have to explain why the government only focuses on Jewish projects while neglecting the citizens with Palestine through its laws and even the military who destroy their houses and properties forcing them to move out. This government also established different law systems; one for the Jews and the other for barbarians.
He says that the whole purpose is terrorism. His claims are based on facts and not just mere claims. It is obvious that there would be mixed reactions arising from Peled’s point of view for instance, the American-Israeli lobby groups would refer him as anti Semetic, self-hating Jew or other names showing neglect of his people. However the fact remains that none of them can confound Peled’s convincing writing. This is an issue which has been in people’s hearts for a long time but there has been no proper forum to air them out.
