Introduction
The girls group home is a residential shelter for girls aged between 11 years and 18 years. The children are in care and custody of the state because of abuse and neglect. Others are in custody because they are not governable. The teenagers stay here for a period until when a place that is permanent for them is found. They stay here for about a month and then move out to another place. The girls group home can hold up to 16 girls. The place is open for 24 hours and 7 days a week. The girls receive treatment on diseases and enjoy the recreational activities offered here (Graham & Rutter, 1989). Most girls found here suffer psychiatric disorder and the group home offers them the mental checkups and treatment.
There are a number of activities that the girls participate in while here. The girls get life skills to enable them face life. The girls learn important lessons and achieve the potential in them. They undergo classes on drug and drug abuse. The girls get to know how to live better in the society. The girls visit places where they get to interact with nature. They visit museums, theaters and places where sporting activities take place. The strategy of the Girls group home is to have equipment’s to accommodate many girls. This calls for employment of many social workers who will train the girls and take care of them during their stay. The facilities must be expanded to ensure that the girls do not congest in the homes.
Barriers
The challenges facing the Girls group home is the inadequate finances. The homes depend on donations from the community. The funds from these volunteer donors go to receiving the girls and taking care of them during their stay in the home. The lack of finances is a barrier to any activity. This means that it is a challenge to expand the home because the fund come from the donors and it cannot be determined when the donors will give the funds. Another challenge is the inadequate professionals. The social workers responsible for managing the cases in the home need better pay and the home faces a challenge of the finances. The nurses that ensure that the girls get the suitable health care services need payment. The psychologists and other specialists responsible for providing therapy for the girls also need payment.
Proposals to achieve the dreams
The challenges facing the organization can be overcome. The girl’s home needs to appeal to many donors to contribute. This will ensure that the home meets the goals it has set. The funds will pay the social workers and the medical professions. The funds will also ensure that the girls receive.
The staff in the home will need to undergo training on how to handle the cases that the girls face. The staffs include the social workers and the medics. The training will ensure that they offer professional care to the girls. This will appeal to the donors because they will see the value their donation is doing. The training will be done periodically to keep pace with the developing issues in the society. The equipment acquired will necessitate that the staff have the right training on their use.
The social worker is responsible for managing the cases. For the proposal success the players every member in the home will need to co-operate to ensure that the home runs smoothly. This is possible because of planning (Renz, 2010). Planning ensures that every activity works accordingly. The success of the proposals is reviewed after a period of six months and corrective measures taken.
Conclusion
The girls need a decent living and through the homes, they are able to access the services and training needed. When the girl child is empowered, the whole society is empowered.
