The Iliad
In history, The Iliad is included in epic poetry’s oldest collection. The Iliad is an ancient poem in which similar with the Odyssey, was argued saying that it was created by a person named Homer. Even though no one provided reliable evidence in relation to the creator of this Greek poem, it was generally accepted that the alleged creator, Homer is a visually challenged poet. This poet was written sometime between eight hundred and seven hundred Before Christ. The Iliad was translated to many languages, which was then used in silver screen and stage presentations and even motivated many untold writers of novels, stories, and poems. During Homer’s period, poems such as The Iliad were not being enjoyed as a printed piece or being distributed to people as a reading material, but they are being presented to people by the author orally. The Iliad is a bloody literature, which is also a Greek term for wrath or rage.
Analects
The term Analects, this is known for another term Analects of Confucius, are ideas and sayings ascribed to Confucius, a Chinese Philosopher along with his contemporaries. Allegedly, this collection of sayings are written and created by Confucius’ supporters or followers. These ideas and saying made by his followers were eventually compiled and was then called book of Analects or sayings. Through Analects, people were able to learn Confucius’ philosophical ideas such as positive traits, which we must desire. Additionally, these sayings, which were compiled by his followers after his death, were the importance of Confucianism that lasted longer than two thousand five hundred years. Analects or Confucius’ ideas and sayings are considered a treasure of Chinese culture as well as a shining example of global philosophical thought.
The Apology of Socrates
The Apology is a speech by Plato, which was delivered by Socrates to answer the charges against him. This speech was given by Socrates by the time that he was charged of not believing and not having faith in the Gods, whom the whole city believes and was also being accused of corrupting young. During this time, the word apology had an early meaning of delivering a speech or speaking to defend an individual’s reason of actions or beliefs. As for Socrates, his speech is or his apology is his way of defending the cause of his actions before the Council of Athena, which had become accusations against him. This dialogue has several parts; initially, he gave his statement as an introduction pertaining to his speaking manner. It was followed by his dialogues regarding the accusations against him as well as defending himself. Finally, he made a predictive reprimand of the council judges for assuming their lives in a peaceful conscience after their pronouncement as a punishment against him.
The Aeneid Story
The Aeneid story tells about Aeneas, a Trojan warrior that happened in the aftereffects of Trojan War. This is an epic poem divided into twelve chapters, which was written by Virgil, a Roman poet, between 30 B.C. and before his death in 19 B.C. This portrays how Aeneas fled with Anchises, his father at some point in sack of Troy. They fled the city along with Ascanius, his son. Guided by prophecies, which promised a kingdom for him, Aeneas and his supporters eventually settled in Latium one of the regions located in central Italy. This story shows Aeneas’ journey as well as his character as the predecessor of Roman people.
