Illuminati refer a secret society that acts undercover and whose members prefer to be hidden. However, it need to be noted that sufficient evidence is yet to be adduced to prove the existence or otherwise of the group. However, research has indicated that illuminati refer to both fictitious and real groups, with fictitious groups receiving a lot of mainstream coverage especially through movies and films. It is on that premise that this paper shall tackle the issue of the illuminati and the government.
It has been recorded by researchers that one main character that distinguishes the illuminati from the other groups is their control of public affairs. In other words, it is said that the illuminati form part of the government and that government is part and parcel of the illuminati. In that vein, researchers have sensationally claimed that the forty three men who have been presidents of the United States of America are members of the illuminati. This school of thought has also categorized the current head of state, Barrack Obama, as being a life member of the illuminati. It is said, or so the narrative goes, that presidential elections in the United States of America are often a fluke and that ultimately, it is the decision of the illuminati that often prevails. In other words, for one to be president and run government, he or she has to owe allegiance to the illuminati. However, it is imperative to note that this is mainly speculative and left to the classes of wild imagination. Indeed, no president including the current one has ever come out to either confirm or refute the claims. Claims have been treated with sufficient contempt.
However, it is essential to appreciate the claims in the context of the operations of the government of the United States of America. Before giving weight to either the proponents or opponents of the illuminati existence, it is instructive to appreciate the complicated nature of the American government and the ever precarious political terrain. Indeed, for one to become head of state, he or she undergoes a number of challenges. One of the significant challenges presidential hopefuls undergo is that of receiving endorsements from lobbyists, political luminaries, business communities and even celebrities. It is from the basis that the question as to whether the illuminati inform the government can be tackled. Indeed, these women and men whose endorsements are often worth millions in both electoral votes and financial standing can be easily connected to being members of a particular exclusive society. It is this society that perhaps conspiracies have summed up as the illuminati. Indeed, given that the illuminati was originally founded for purposes of control public affairs and preventing abuse of power by the political class, it is easier to assume that endorsements would be given in that breadth. However, it should be appreciated that the political terrain in the United States of America is colored with interests that are either individual or utilitarian. It is these interests that endorsements often seek to protect and it would be naïve to assume that endorsements are informed by allegiance to a particular group. In fact, attesting to this is the fact that endorsements often do not necessarily apply in favor of one candidate.
In conclusion, this paper submits that the question as to whether the illuminati form the government remains unanswered and is the subject of national speculations and conspiracies.
