in the modern world, the word media when mentioned people think of television, internet, computers, radio and the blogs. this paper will explore books as a form of media. Media is defined as a means that allows communication. as the technology grows so does the media. books are a mass marketed and widely distributed just like the other forms of the media that are spread worldwide. Books defined as a mirror of the culture because they inform and entertain the individuals in different ways. A book includes the past and agents of personal development and social change that create the awareness to the public on the event that took place in past and the assumption of the future. Books communicate to the society about the norms and values that are great treasure and a gift of traditions. Books affect our ways of living by providing useful information to the community; as media, they are important to the society since they are the key component of the information.
Brief history
In 15thcentury, books were recognized as the mass medium to analyses the information about the social, cultural and the economic conditions of the society. books were produced by the printing press during the 15thcentury in many communities in the world .Most of the books came with the colonial North Americans where the earliest colonist settled in the to escape the regions with persecution and to search for the economic opportunities that was absent in Europe. Most of the colonists writers escaped from their countries because the law was tough on them. in some countries writers were jailed . book were required to be stamped by the government authority and permitted to be distributing in the society (Baran 54). This is just an example showing that there was limited freedom of writing in Europe. America did support the colonists who settled in the country by providing the printing materials that were required by the authors.
After the war of independence, the printing of the books became more central to political and cultural life in major cities like Boston, New York and Philadelphia which encouraged the printing press by motivating them through purchase of the books. The U.S newspaper industry grew rapidly because of the efforts implies by the printers who operated the bookshops and book publishers. Even with the fact that the books were widely spread it was a challenge for the writers because the industry was slower to develop since books were expensive, often costing the equivalent payment of the individual. The movement of the civil war contributed to improvement in education in the 1900 (Baran 55). This contributed to the increase demand of the books and development of technology by which every individual was able to receive the books in their location without travelling for long distances. In the 20thcentury, most people in United State were literate due to the circulation of books.
In 1811, printing became the most valuable production because the writers only used a paper roll to print newspapers. The combination of technically improved, lower-cost printing and the feast of the novel were widely spread. The growing of the books improved by brothers Irwin and Erastus Beadle. The brothers started publishing the novels to serve a large number of literate citizens. The citizens treasured reading different books by the diverse authors that spread the information of the current events that were taking place in the country and other countries such as the Britain.

The publication of the books is fast developing and changing. The convergence of literacy and technology is changing the nature of the books industry. The industry is creating a good relationship between the readers and the publishers. The internet through the e-publication of books changes the way books are distributed the society. The internet increases the chances of the distributing the book, many buyers believes on the internet and ease of access.
The distribution of books has limited reading, however the major technology developed have shown that accessibility of books can be improved and can be effective. the nook and kindle are two examples of how the technology is impacting the publishing industry.
The amazons kindle
This is an e-book reader that has the capability of storing books and accessing the Amazon bookstore. the gadget allows the user to subscribe for such books and newspapers. also readers can buy their books and keep them. the major benefit of this is the accessibility and space management. as it is portable and wireless readers can take their books with them and thus this development is an effective and very positive revolution to the book industry.
The nook
Closely related to kindle is the Nook which is an e-book reader application. readers can use it in their tablets and with it, access countless e-books. such technology have made sure that the book will reach any reader in the part of the world provided they have internet connection. as the future progress ids made it is possible to have better applications enhancing book distribution.
The development of publishing the books is currently important to the society. In the modern technology, the citizens are adapting on ways to trust the books that the other form of media. The individual does their research on the books basing on the history of the item, and the observation of the require information. The book industry has targeted the entire individual group such as the teens, giving ideas on how to handle the teenager’s challenges. Due to the widely purchase of the books the publishers enables the citizens to purchase inventory cheaply and offer discount to the purchasers to create decent relationship.
In digital era the publishers are requested to print there papers of the books in the internet. Since the book is a form of media, the individual enjoy reading the articles through online content. The author has the capability of choosing the most suitable way while going for the self-publishing. The readers are requested to pay for the printing and binding of the book for hard copy supplies.
In conclusion, books are most valuable source to connect the people with the past events and future prospects. Most people spend their time to enquire on the impact of the books and the importance of reading. Publishing books motivates the readers because most of the authors includes there life history to encourage them. Compared to other forms of the media it is rare for the writers to include their complete information as it is expensive.
Books motivate people and that is why they remain favorite for many. Books have contributed to development in the society such as the companies that relies on the past improvement of the corporations and the tactics implied. Most of the managers of the companies rely on the information from the books because some of the information from the internet may just be opinions and general statements, whose main interest is to make money. Therefore, it is clear that books remain valued in many institutions and organizations such as the law firms and schools .The value of books is that all the information including the history provided thoroughly researched when compared to other mediums.
