The article The Leader’s New Work: Building Learning Organizations, the author shared the changing paradigm in the world of organizations. The article highlights that it is the nature of human beings to seek learning. It shares the new philosophy that superior performance is now dependent on superior learning. When an organization creates a restricted environment, it hinders the learning process because it limits the amount of creativity and innovation an employee can share. With this in mind, the changing organization environment highlights or stresses the importance of leaders in setting the environment for the employees. The article tackles the different method to boost learning within the organization. In addition, it provides concrete idea about the importance of the role of leaders in the working environment (Senge, 1990).
The changing working requirements have given its leaders new roles. Leaders are now designers, stewards and teachers. The new role of leaders breaks the former role of management because it provides the importance of interacting with the employees. Before managers or supervisors are often seen secluded from their employees, as if there is an existing barrier between them. The set up hinders learning because it gives the employees the impression that their supervisors are not approachable. Employees will keep their ideas and sentiments to themselves affecting the continuous flow of information. In the end of the article, the author mentioned that similar to any form of learning, the learning organization is a project that continuously change and diversify with time. The people in the organization must always keep their heads above water and not let the fast pace market stop them from innovating and excelling. The article offers the different method of enriching workplace creativity that can benefit the readers because it provides them the basic knowledge of organizations.
The conclusion of the study mentions the importance of the continuous effort of encouraging innate organization learning especially on the part of organization leaders because they serve as the main source of guidance. In terms of recommendation the study would like organization to think of ways in which they will reach the full potentiality of their members. It is important to identify the strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats of both internal and external environment so that their approach will be more proactive rather than reactive.
