Through the years, people who use Marijuana are calling the attention of the government for it to be considered as a legal action in the United States. I too, am with them on their stand of legalizing Marijuana use. Marijuana should be scraped off on the U.S.’s criminal justice system. Similar regulations should be done instead which would treat them similar to cigarettes, tobacco, and alcoholic drinks and beverages.
One major reason why the government is not legalizing the use of it is that it made the reputation of being an addictive substance. The legalization of Marijuana varies across different countries. However, most countries prohibit the use of it. People are promoting the legalization of it because of various reasons. One of them is because of the medicinal capabilities of Marijuana. Medical Marijuana which is the other term for medical cannabis is the utilization of cannabis as well of its related constituent cannabinoids for medical therapies and to alleviate some symptoms of certain diseases. Other consistuents of Medical cannabis are tetrahydrocannabinol or THC and cannabidol or CBD for medicinal purposes (Amar, page 10).
Through the history, the Cannabis plant has a record of medicinal uses which can be dated back from hundreds of years ago. However, the modern use of Cannabis has been a major controversy to the society today. The AMA or also known as the American Medical Association, MMA, the American Society of Addiction Medicine, as well some organization which is related to the medicinal field are showing strong oppositions for the use of Marijuana in the medicinal field (Amar, page 14).
Cannabis can be used to decrease the rate of vomits and nausea to the people who are undergoing chemotherapy. It can also be used by persons who have been diagnosed by AIDS, and to treat and reduce the pain brought by muscle spasticity. Further uses of cannabis are still under research and studies since there are not enough data that the use of it is safe and effective (Borglet et al, page 196).
Marijuana also have the potential of being used as appetite stimulants It also has the potential of being an antiemetics, antispasmodics, and can also have analgesic effects. It can be helpful in treating certain chronic pains which are non-cancerous. Cannabis also showed some potential regarding the treatment of chronic pains which are usually caused by neuropathy and can also be somewhat effective to fibromyalgia as well as rheumatoid arthritis. Cannabis has also shown some potential regarding the use of it to deal with neurological problems. Neurological problems like multiple sclerosis, epilepsy and some movement problems can be addressed by Marijuana. Studies of the efficacy of Cannabis to be used in treating multiple sclerosis produced different results. The combination of THC as well as CBD extracts gives positive results in relieving spasticity although there are no post-treatment assessments to tell if the use of these are still effective (Lakhan, page 59).
Resorting to cannabis can be a good option if all of the other options are done and were not effective. The use of Cannabis for medicinal purposes has been approved in ten countries. In addition to that, A 2012 review said that there are no problems regarding tolerance, abuse, and addiction to Marijuana (Oreja-Guevarra, page 421).
Despite of the potentials of Marijuana as medicines, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has not approved the use of it in treating certain diseases, illnesses and conditions because the safety of the use of Marijuana has not yet proven to be safe and its efficacy is still being questioned. The National Institute on Drug abuse (no page) even said that Marijuana itself cannot be and should not be considered as a candidate for healthcare reasons due to some reasons: one is that Marijuana is one of the unpurified plants that contain numerous chemicals and the side effects of these chemicals are still unknown to us. Another reason is that the people would usually smoke more amounts of Marijuana and it can lead to more adverse effects from it. Lastly, the cognitive impairing effects of Marijuana may be a reason for its limited use. There are also articles that say that it is unclear if the benefits that can be brought by Marijuana are greater than the risk which can be brought by it. However, there are also some articles that say that the use of Marijuana can be generally safe for people to use (Lynch and Campbell, page 735).
The administering of marijuana which have the medicinal effects can be done in many ways. It includes vaporizing or the smoking of dried buds of the plant, eating the extracts, taking in capsules, or through spraying them orally. Cannabinoids that are made synthetically are viewed as drugs which can be prescribed by physicians in some countries. Examples of these Medicinal Cannabis that are used as prescription drugs like dronabinol which is available in Canada and the USA, and the Nabilone which is available in Great Britain, Canada, Mexico in the United States. Medicinal use of Marijuana and Medical marijuana have been legalized in some countries like Austria, Canada, Finland, Germany, Czech Republic, Israel, Italy, Portugal, Span and the Netherlands (Egelko, no page).
The Institute of Medicine which is also run by the United States National Academy of Science conducted a study and made some researches about the potential of this plant to be used in healing, curing, and treatment of some diseases. The conclusion of the study states that they do not recommend the smoking of Marijuana to treat any disease condition. However, nausea, loss of appetite, pain as well as anxiety can be addressed by cannabis (Egelko, no page).
There more use of Marijuana that is why I also want it to be legalized. Aside from its health benefits since there are studies saying that it can be used in addressing certain diseases, Marijuana can also be made as a business for the people to add up to their money in their everyday living. The government can also put taxes onto selling it therefore the selling of Marijuana can be an avenue for the country to uplift its economic status.
The legalization as well as the regulation of Marijuana can bring some of the largest cash crops under the laws. This would mean that more jobs would be created and many windows of economic opportunities will open in the legal economy as well. The law enforcement regarding scarce law will be used better in protecting the safety of the public while reducing court costs and corrections. The local, state, and the national governments would also acquire many sources of revenues on them if they would agree to regulate the use of Marijuana
In order to maximize the potentials of Marijuana as a possible mean for economical advantage, testing on product as well as the standardization of it should be done. In order for a country to legalize the use of Marijuana in their state, the product testing of Marijuana has become a standard requirement. This is turn will allow buyers and consumers to have an idea about Marijuana, their cinnabinoid program as well as the potency of the Marijuana that the consumers will buy. Since there are still no universally-accepted standards for the distribution of Marijuana especially those in the countries that allow it, customers and consumers should also be vigilant on any harmful chemicals like pesticides, fungicides, fertilizers as well as residual solvents that might remain in the flowers after the cactuses have been cultivated.
According to Sam Becker, there are approximately 16 jobs that were created by the marijuana Industry. Since in Colorado as well as the Washington were the first ones to agree and proclaimed the legalization of marijuana in their state, they were the ones who got a head start. Shortly after the legalization of Marijuana in their states, the company in Colorado brought millions of dollars and he also encouraged other people to get out of their norms and then evaluate the use of Marijuana as a mean in a healthy market (no page).
Opening up a new enterprise in the company will not be an easy task. However, through these influences to us by Adolf Hitler, we can be able to adapt to a new system. During the full swing of the legalization of Marijuana, there has been a big influx of employment to people. In addition to that, law enforcers as well as the police would not need to attend to low-level dragon crime runs.
Some of the job opportunities that the group can offer are security, courier and delivery so that faster process between the customer and the coordinator of the Marijuana plant is easier and more applicable. However, if this plant would not be continued to be legalized, they will remain in the hidden black market where they operate illegally. Operating illegally would mean penalizations as well as imprisonment if it would be proven that a person is still engaging through unlawful acts regarding the selling of Marijuana even though it is not yet legal to be passed in the country.
Although Marijuana has been viewed as an addictive substance, I will try my best to show the people all the good things that can happen if one will use it moderately or if it will be legalized in the state. Further studies and researches should also be made in order to come up with more credible laboratory result and more accurate and precise findings to the effects of Marijuana to the health and to the society.
