The minimalist concept of literature embraces the fact that a work of art is kept simple, clear but efficient with the usage of the right words to bring home the ideas that an artist or author and even poet want to deliver. In poetry, such is the idea and a poet has the freedom to beautifully use less words. It is clear that they embrace poetic aesthetics of sparseness. The bottom line is, minimalist poetry is not clearly defined to belong to a certain definition of poetry.
Minimalist poetry is very unique in its own rights. Its major attribute is the fact that it eliminates unnecessary words but use the few that it does to communicate. Besides this, this class of poetry uses typography. This means that the poems utilize font, space and sizes of letters and in between these letters , color can be used and even the text arrangement. They therefore take into account visual representation more than any other characteristic and this makes them stand out because, they can make an impact more than a many worded poem can (Singh 91).
The main objective of minimalist poetry is to express or communicate an idea with the use of as few words as necessarily possible. Much of the concern is given to the visual aspect of it and this makes such poetry draw much attention than the traditional concrete poetry (Singh 92). This makes such poetry not only interesting but also beautiful in their own rights as they create a certain impression to anyone looking at them. Minimalist poetry with its condensed style brings poetry down to the use of a few basics while outlawing literary devices that according to minimalists are not necessary.
