The movie “The Patriot’, presents a fiction war film, which shows the life of an American man, who was forced to join the American Revolutionary War, upon the threats issued to his family. In the movie, various activities took place, which posed a significant danger to the lives of the American militia and the British soldiers as well. The fighting process claimed a large number of lives, of those who were in the war and those who were not even involved in the war. The movie shows various negative things which the British soldiers undergo. They lose the fight when Martin and his team of guerilla soldiers attack and kill a majority of the British troops (Ebert, 2000).
The other evil which the British forces experience is the mistreatment of the American soldiers, especially the ones who belonged to the Martins’ Camp (Ross, c. 2000). The British troops, however, encountered various negative experiences in the South Carolina. Some of the negative experiences included the Waxhaws Massacre, where the British leader led an execution and a brutal attack on the Virginia Continentals, killing a majority of the soldiers in the troops. The other negative encounter was the execution of all the suspected guerillas and the burning of all farms which belonged to the loyalists of the Martins’ wing.
The tactics used by the American guerillas was, however, an advantage and also a disadvantage to them. The tactics used were advantageous because it enabled the militia to win the war and even massacre a majority if the British soldiers. The tactic was also good because it enabled the soldiers to hide and even organize their attacks well without being known or even noticed. However, the tactics used by the militia posed a great danger to them because it caused the death of many of the army soldiers when they were abducted by the British troops. The tactic was also a great danger because it cost the people a lot of losses, where homes and farms were burnt down by the British soldiers. The burning of homes and farms meant a significant loss of property, lives and even famine to all those who depended on the farms for food supplies. The movie shows a great destruction on the side of the militia, because they lose almost everything they had possessed, hence the tactics used can be said not to be effective.
