His political demise in the earlier life and the background of his political life is satisfactory and essential in getting to the perspective from which he traces his work. Additionally he introduces his work with a letter addressing one of his friends. The letter enables the writer to understand the trials and troubles at the same time his accomplishments and the rewards he received. The letter also enables the writer to the author’s psyche. His letter includes influential sentences; “I am going to waste” (Machiavelli, 2010). It displays the much attitude he has.
Machiavelli’s writing style is commanding even though it is in a conversation tone. It gives limited room for divergent views away from what he thinks and puts it down. He presents his work in a manner that leaves the reader feel as part of the conversation. Machiavelli writes the work from the first person perspective. The author struggles through his work to bring out his sincere thoughts and he talks nothing but the whole truth about himself which the people even do not want to hear. He brings light to the reader of his work about the game of politics which requires that a leader tells the subjects what they want to hear as opposed to acting perfect.
Machiavelli’s work is dominated by elaborative language this brings out a very undeniably superlative eloquence. The book successfully brought out the author’s intellect which is very superior backed up by appropriate illustration pertaining to the concepts he has put forward. “The Prince has managed to display bluntness. For instance when answering whether it is right to be loved or feared, he responds, “"ungrateful, fickle, dissembling, anxious to flee danger and covetous of gain “(Machiavelli, 2010). Men are materialistic as opposed to being honesty. They would rather be interested in what they are to lose materially than the father.
The writer brings out the truth hence honesty and not what they wanted to hear said. Machiavelli maintains that he is evil and he is honesty about it. As a politician and leader people do not anticipate such utterances from him considering that he is representing them. Machiavelli may have been not that evil as compared to the next politician to replace him but he insisted on telling nothing but the truth to the people he represented. This might have gone against politics and perhaps he said more truth that the people themselves needed to hear. This was a contributory factor to his demise in politics.
In conclusion, “The Prince” clearly presents a leader who is basically ideal and Machiavelli is trying to say that he can be that faultless leader. His honesty as well as bluntness as opposed to what the people wanted to hear contributed to his demise in politics. He at times said much about himself beyond what the truth they did not want to hear nor accept. The book leaves any reader enlightened about the politics game and the leaders they elect. It illustrates that there are unknown rules of politics to the people and that it is such rules that make the distinction between leaders and their subjects.
