There are thousands different cultures and societies in the world with each culture, having differences in their practices. Cultures are an integral part of society as they direct the behaviors of the members. Cultural practices vary from one community to the other and also across different regions, although cultures from the same regions tend to have a few similar aspects. In this paper, therefore, our objective is to understand the differences in cultural practices amongst various societies. Emphasis will mainly be on their way of living, political, and economic practices. The aim of this paper will thus be to understand different cultures and with this being able to determine whether there are cultures that are superior to others.
According to the study, independent families are mostly viewed as those families that are wealthy and have a higher status in the society. This, therefore, means that they have a significant influence over their people and even at times they might be the loyal class in certain communities. Independent families, therefore, are not restricted to communal basis. Although they can make their decisions they still observe their cultures and pay respect to them. On the other hand, there are the extended families. They mostly include nuclear families that have joined and share a common ancestor. In the past, extended families were highly regarded as they were seen as a source of security. Extended families came together in case of a disaster and assisted each other. On understanding family structures and dynamics explains an extended family as those people who lived under one roof. This, therefore, shows that extended families had strong bonds that brought them together. They were beneficial since work was spread out among members. (Michel 1)
In almost each community there is a form of an organized hierarchy. Social stratification simply refers to the system in which the society is organized, or people are grouped in a form of hierarchy. For example, the political hierarchy of a certain community may be; the father being like the head, council of elders and then the king of the society. This shows that there is an organized order in which every institution is regarded as important. In the film attached, therefore, there is a form social and political organization. At first, people in this society are ranked in positions. This is evident from their way of dressing and also, the influence they hold in the society. For example, there are those who are entitled to responsibilities such as leadership. They are different from other members of the society in the way they dress. There is the special attire for each group of people that is rulers, warriors, and other members.
Their economic condition simply involves hunting and gathering. They also engage in activities such fishing where they get their livelihood. This provides regular food to the members of the society and enhances continuity of life. They participate in cattle keeping which is a form of prestige and also a source of food. They also practiced pig rearing in where they used them as a source of food. They had specific ways of associating amongst themselves.
They had other unique patterns based on their way of life. Communal food searching and gathering was their ways of life. The gathered food is prepared at one place where there is equal sharing. It strengthened their associations and the bonds between them.
