Re: Billing as an Exhibitor
Dear Ms. Yakovich:
I am sure you are aware that The Rights for Mythical Animals Alliance (RMAA), a non-profit organization, and NASA had established a lasting alliance and partnership in terms of provision of services that would be instrumental in benefitting various stakeholders in NASA’s annual Myth vs. Science Fair. RMAA has always been glad to provide mythical animals for your organization and we have never been charged for exhibiting, since 1976 or for the last 37 years.
This year, it came as a surprise, that a billing for exhibiting, amounting to $3000 was received from your organization. As you are well aware that RMAA is a non-profit organization, requiring us to earmark that amount to supposedly pay for exhibiting fee would significantly hurt our budget. Operating with only a limited budget, the said amount could have been allotted to take care of new mythical animals, in addition to the ones already in our care. Likewise, it is also pertinent to note at this point that one of the animals featured in the fair was actually injured when it was returned; though the injury was not apparently noticed until several days after the fair ended. Thus, we have to address all necessary expenses pertinent to their administration and care.
I have already communicated the matter with Mark Markerson, the exhibit organizer for the fair; who likewise referred the concern to his superior, Dana Ulmann. Since the matter appears to be beyond their jurisdiction and authority, I am hereby appealing to you, to please review this matter and hopefully rescind the charges, as billed.
Rest assured that RMAA would continue to respect and abide by the partnership we have long established in providing mythical animals to your annual Myth vs. Science Fair in the future years. I would be looking forward to an immediate and positive response in this regard.
