Additionally, they ensured that the children had physical necessities such as clothing, food, and shelter. Nevertheless, the fathers, as well as the extended families, also played a role in ensuring that the children’s basic needs were met. In traditional societies, Aboriginal women were regarded as the carriers of their cultures. They had the responsibility of ensuring that their values, traditions, assumptions, beliefs, and languages were maintained and passed from one generation to the other, through ceremonies, storytelling, and performance rituals.
