Health care is one of society’s major concerns throughout the world. The need for quality and affordable health care service has driven many individuals to seek the responsive access of health care insurance companies (Bernstein, 2010). The United Health Group is one such operating division committed to performance and quality healthcare delivery. The company is one of the most diversified health insurance companies in the United States and leader in the industry. More than 70 million Americans and citizens of other countries are subscribed members to the United Health Group. The group seeks to enhance the performance of health care systems and improve on health care delivery (HIC, 2009). United Health Group works with health care professionals to enable its members to access high quality services at a sustainable price. Members are also empowered with vital information to enable them make healthy personal choices and decisions. Affordable health care is also the core concern of the group, which it emphasizes through the creation of cost effective services and products. The United Heath Group also relies on innovation and technology to create health care solutions that are efficient. Health care is currently globally networked, as companies, health professionals, workers, innovative technologies and new treatments correlate (HIC, 2009).
The United Health Group is defined by its wide application of innovative technological approaches to health care delivery. This enhances their capabilities of meeting the evolving needs of the changing health care scene in the fast-paced modern world. Technology is widely applied in their health care system since they offer unique options of coverage and care concepts to offer new and effective care systems that transform the health care delivery (Stephen, 2013). The technologically and clinically proven prevention and control of diabetes initiativein Los Angeles to county employees are examples of such innovation.
The United Health Group has also created free online resources site that is available to its members to assist the health care professionals in responding to Medicare challenges. This is together with the ultra modern housing development in North West Chicago. In the past five years, the group has made significant investments in development, research, business improvements processes and technology that amounts to close to $3 billion (HIC, 2009).
The United Health Group houses the UnitedHealth Care, which is one of the largest health insurance companies in the United States. In 1977, it was created as the UnitedHealth Care Corporation and renamed in 1998 to the United Health Group. It has its origins traced to the acquisition of a firm in 1977 that was chartered and certified by the Charter Med. The company has experienced a gradual growth since then to it first introduction of a health plan that is network based in 1979 for seniors and became a public trade company in 1984 (HIC, 2009).
Diabetes is currently affecting up to 26 million Americans that is about 10 % of the total population. Furthermore, the condition is one of the fastest growing diseases that affect the country. About 79 million other people are considered to have the development of pre-diabetes due to the sedentary lifestyles that are prevailing. This implies that the society face a high risk of succumbing to the condition. The United Health Group consequently, offers different solutions that support the prevention of childhood obesity problems and offer medical solutions to people living with diabetes (HIC, 2009). The insurance company offers Health insurance Products for families, individuals and sole proprietors who are under the age of 65 and are not eligible for Medicare options. This provides them with the needed medical insurance.
There are wide varieties of plans developed by the United Health Group that covers different people with health benefits that they can afford. There is similarly the option of purchasing optional riders and benefits at affordable rates that increases coverage. The company has a wide variety of health insurance plans, which include Copay, health savings account, short term medical, and a wide variety of high quality benefit and wellness plans that are affordable and offered to employees (David & Stephen, 2011).
Recently, the United Health care’s Golden Rule introduced a new cost-effective dental and vision coverage plans for consumers in five different states. These included Louisiana, Connecticut, Indiana, Delaware and Nebraska. The company’s golden rule has over the past years aimed to introduce vision and dental plans in 27 different states and the Columbia District (David & Stephen, 2011). These new plans are available to individual and family members of all ages including recipients of Medicare and children. These plans do not require interested applicants to have other insurance plans through the Golden Rule or its affiliates. The company has also created a center for the advancement of nursing since it is one of the largest employers of nurses. The United Health Group does not underestimate the significant role of nurses as professionals in the health care delivery system (Stephen, 2013).
The service delivery of the United Health group can be increased through providing affordable access to drugs to it members through the proper management of its pharmaceutical department. The insurance company should spend more money on healthcare services demonstrated to improve effectiveness, timeliness and safety in the care of patients through for example, increasing the number of health care professionals, dentists, physicians and hospitals (Stephen, 2013). Improvement on the environment of healthcare delivery and the different health care plans and budgets is similarly essential to allow for versatility and availability of different needs and budgets.
