Theory and Ideology
There is enough evidence by researchers as to the main sources related to the United States Policy on the Iranian Nuclear Program. United States has highly regarded itself as a nation with highly reputable national identity and ideology. This has been the basis of arguments for the development of protective mechanisms making the U.S influence the policies of foreign countries such as Iran (Hedges 2003).
The above policies resulted to Iran reacting by placing Uranium Fuel as its first weapon in countering the U.S policies. There is no clear verification as to whether Iran will proceed to manufacture weapons form such a deadly power plant (Brzezinski, 2012). Iran’s power plant is one of the world’s most enormous nuclear capabilities. The world would be at a risk of going in to a war if Iran decides to capitalise on the power plant. To address the above problem, the United Sates has developed distinctive mechanisms aimed at addressing the nuclear program in Iran. As much as the US is committed to finding solutions to the nuclear program, it is also concerned with the consequences that the program would have on its foreign policies.
The United States has been seriously involved in matters pertaining to Iran for the past twenty years. The nuclear program has given Iran the capability to manufacture its own nuclear weapons. This has been a serious threat to the U.S by Iran. This threat has caused many American to have sleepless nights. Such activities that Iran is engaged in are most likely to result to a world war. Other dangerous activities that Iran has been involved include terrorism. Iran has been giving full support to world terrorism by opposing the signing of peace agreements between the Arab and Israel. The above discussion suggests that a country that strongly opposes global peace and supports terrorism should not be left to develop any nuclear weapons. Is a country such as Iran is left t develop the deadly nuclear program, it will have the capability to manufacture dangerous weapons that would be a substantial threat to the global peace (Chubin, 2006).
America and other countries are likely to be affected negatively if Iran proceeds and manufactures nuclear weapons. If Iran manufactures its own nuclear weapons, would have an upper hand over other countries, and this has been the greatest issue of concern. Production of such powerful weaponry would enable Iran to protect itself from America’s military coercion. In addition, with such weapons, Iran will no longer fear going in to a war with the U.S. America has tightly held the Middle East countries due to their own production. These suggest that these countries are under control of America’s power. Iran’s manufacture of nuclear weapons is an economic threat to America because it will be capable of fighting America’s supremacy in the Middle East. This fact is well known to the US administration. This has been the crucial factor explaining why US soldiers are all over Afghanistan and Iraq (Afrasiabi, 2006).
The U.S military force has been the most powerful military force over the world. There is a wide margin difference between the U.S military force and other military forces. The U.S does not only aim at fighting Iran’s nuclear program, it is also concerned with the negative impacts that would occur if Iran decides to be violent. Because America’s army is enormous with the widest scope over the world, if the two countries go to war, there would be massive worldwide deaths and destruction. If this occurs, the economic conditions of different countries will be affected in a substantial way. The world would be plunged in to a state of global insecurity. Therefore, the US must avoid using any form of military force in the case of nuclear program in Iran (Chubin, 2006).
The US has also used economic sanctions on Iran concerning its nuclear program, which were not successful. There is a five-year negotiation agreement between America and Iran over the nuclear program. This five year negotiation period is long overdue, and no positive results have been achieved so far (Brzezinski, 2012). America is committed to working together with countries of the Middle East such as Arab Emirates. This collaboration aims at enabling these countries to manufacture nuclear weapons of their own. America has also signed peace pacts with these countries that aim at enabling the US to supply them with military weapons (Afrasiabi, 2006).
Obama’s leadership in the United States saw the development of diplomacy between Iran and the US the Obama government came up with diplomatic resolutions that would not require any weaponry tools to pressure Iran abandon its nuclear program (Hedges, 2003). He designed diplomatic strategies and used soft power. He used this as tools to convince Iran and wanted to make Iran be among the peace ambassadors in the region. The US is aimed at enhancing its relationship with Iran by creating a task force. The task force was given the task of developing the best strategies, which would be used to approach the hostile situation in Iran.
