Brief Summary of the Presentation
The presentation creates awareness on the advantages of thinking on higher levels, and the ways to be responsible and accountable to our assigned tasks. Thinking out of the box, decision making, producing quality output on time, exhibiting good communication skills with other people to gather information, and progressing in the given task are some of the main key points of this presentation. The example of an individual’s behavior in a workplace is well explained. The willingness to learn from a male or a female supervisor, accepting challenges, professionalism, having a positive attitude, and are very essential in a practical environment. Going an extra mile in understanding the task, performing efficiently and effectively provides us a better opportunity to move up the hierarchy in an organization. Displaying professional behavior and respecting our peers and colleagues are some ways to make ourselves valuable to the organization. In general the presentation aims at informing the students about the work culture, the conduct of various people in the organization and how they perceive a person younger to them in experience.
Leadership Skill, Traits and Abilities Identified
The leadership skill can be enhanced in time if a person is an exceptional team player, takes initiatives, and works towards the growth of the organization. A leader knows what he or she is talking about and once they gain good experience they cannot be scared. The leaders behave very professionally is every aspect set forth by the organization; may it be writing emails, attending meetings, beating the deadlines of the project and listening to the problems of the team and providing solutions. A leader always thinks at high levels and out of the box to make decisions that would positively impact the individual and the organization. The leader never talks ill or bad mouths about the peers, superiors, the lower or the higher management. A person becomes a leader if there is never dying passion in him or her to drive a change for growth, good results and better prospects for the individual and the organization. Driving innovation, creating a path to success, make decisions that benefit people and the organization, be inclined to new changes and communication are some of the abilities required to be an excellent leader.
Personal Impact
The presentation has been very helpful for me in gaining the knowledge of a workplace that I had not learnt at my school. As a workplace has different people from various ethnic backgrounds and experience, I need to be professional with everyone and gain the trust of people and organization, be responsible, accountable for the tasks that I am assigned and prove the importance of my presence in the organization. Following these organizational standards will help me to improve my credibility and become valuable to the organization. I have learnt that trust plays an important in any organization and it is essential to have a healthy relation with peers and supervisors. Maintaining the office time set by the organization and being punctual is crucial to avoid listening on punctuality by people. Strong determination and hard work will ensure a berth for me to move up the ladder, and a good performance is always appreciated and rewarded in organizations. If I have a unique skill that would benefit the organization then I will highlight it in an interview. The presentation has made me realize that I must be careful while speaking to others as I would be unaware how those people might be related to me.
