Thinking is the process of building up of various thoughts in one’s mind. In day-to-day life thinking is the most common process that our brain does. For example if you are tired and you want to sit first of all your brain will think or develop a thought that you are tired and needs to be sit. Thinking is the most common and most important process to make an individual work efficiently and normally. Thinking is the most important process for individual’s future or future career as well. Thinking allows an individual to develop thoughts as what to do in the future and how to do it. Thinking is very important for an individual to be a part of the society as thinking develops the sense how the people in the society thinks and act and accordingly how to response to their behaviour. This was the general overview of various aspects of thinking. Now let’s discuss about these aspects in detail.
As discussed earlier, thinking is the process of developing thoughts in one’s mind. The definition of thinking in psychology is the processing of the old information to come up with new ideas, to solve problem, to reason and to make decisions. This is not the end of definition of thinking. Thinking also refers to as imagination, recalling of old memories, daydreaming, concept formation, and many other general or new procedures. Thinking is covert as the thoughts that developed in thinking process are hidden in our mind but our body makes it overt by implementing the thoughts or by speaking or by movement of various body parts. Thinking is a cognitive process or cognition. From psychological point of view cognition refers to the set of all mental processes and abilities related to computation, memory, decision making, language production, etc.
Another aspect of thinking applies on an individual as how thinking helps an individual. Thinking helps an individual to improve his behaviour or his way to work day-by-day. For example, a man behaves rudely or made a mistake then after that he realises about the mistake or behaviour and after that thinks about how to improve that mistake or how to behave well to the people and then starts working on that mistake or behaviour. Once, he thinks about how to improve then he starts to work on his mistake or his behaviour.
Thinking is the initial step of the future career as it involves decision making. We always need to make decision and make plans before we start or opt for something new. This decision and plan making may involve hours and hours of thinking as it may involve a lot of thinking on prior knowledge about the future.
Thinking is also important for society as there are many problems and issues faced by the society which needs to be discussed. Thinking also helps to know the behaviour of the people in society, how the people think and act in the society. It helps us to get idea of what kind of a person we are talking to and helps us to determine how the person will act on certain situation and thus, we can avoid some weird response from that person.
Hence, thinking is a very important and day-to-day process in one’s life as well as for the society as it helps to solve many problems and help us to make some difficult decisions on life and also help to see out near future.
