Critical Thinking/Management Decision in Relation to an HRM Issue
A dispute among workers was the main problem that I had to solve for which there was no clear solution. This is due to involvement of other people, and where there behavior as well as decisions highly impacted the solution to the problem. Although it took a lot of time to solve the problem, it was finally settled by clearly guiding the workers of the company’s expectations from each one of them, and educating the workers on conflict handling styles. This required a lot of critical and creative thinking on educating the workers. This was because the seniors thought that the idea was time and money consuming.
Some of the of critical, strategic and ethical thinking types that that helped in solving this issue were finding the cause of the problem which helped me in understanding the problem well, appreciating that there was a problem at the work place so that problem solving could be easy as well as helping me to keep aside personal needs in order to keep the peace. The other strategy was collaboration so that all the people could accept my idea.
Many people influenced the decision of educating the workers as well defining the company’s expectations from each of the workers. Some gave advice while others offered push backs to the idea. Collaboration with all the people was the main target hence I had to show the importance of educating the workers to those who thought it was not a good idea as it was time and money consuming.
The decision of educating workers on conflict resolution methods as well as defining the company’s expectations from each of the workers is the best although it has some push backs especially from the seniors as they think it is a waste of time and money.
