Timing of Puberty
The timing of maturity of girls varies from one community to another because different communities have different beliefs of when their girls mature. The expected age of maturity of a girl depends on the community that one comes from even though it is averaged to be between 9 to 15 years. However, there are some instances when some girls experience earlier maturity than what is expected in their community. Some girls are not affected negatively by this occurrence. However, study has shown that some of the girls experience psychological problems when this occurs. Girls are the most affected by early maturity. The effect of early maturity has been observed to lead to different behaviors among the girls depending on the race the girls come from. The girls from white race are affected differently as compared to the girls from the black American race (Laura, 2010).
The diet that individuals eat at early ages is what influences early maturity of the girls. Studies have shown that girls who are overweight when young have greater chances of experiencing characteristics of early maturity. There are cartain diets that are mostly responsible for these signs of early maturity. Proteins from the vegetables and animals play an important role in influencing the overweight of the girls leading to early puberty. Intake of certain types of fats has also been associated with early signs of puberty among the girls. It can be observed that the lifestyle that is common among many people is what has led to changes in the timing of the maturity of girls. The current population is associated with a high intake of fatty and portentous food products. This leads to overweigh and hence early maturity
Earl maturity has many consequences to the girls. Some of the girls who experience early maturity become depressed. These children develop a lot of anxiety and have sleepless nights for no reason. They lose self respect and their eating behaviors changes. These children lose interest in the games they used to play and always appear sad. Their ability to concentrate for example in classes is affected and they have fewer abilities to remember. This contributes to poor performance in their studies. They develop emotions that they did not have before and they always appear tired. All these are signs of depression. Depression goes to an extent of affecting their physical health. Depression is a mental problem that affects these children largely. The depression signs however reduce as the girls grow (Sonya, 2012).
Girls who experience earlier poverty have a tendency to start abusing drugs. This is most often if some of the members of the family have been using the same drugs. Sometimes this is caused by the mental disturbance that they experience or the feeling that they are already adults. The group of people they start being associated to induces them to the use of drugs. These drugs are dangerous to the health of these young girls.
The girls at this stage also develop internalization and externalization behaviors. These youths develops their own standards and beliefs. They develop certain attitudes towards other people. The come up their own principles that they tend to follow. Internalization behaviors are whereby whenever these girls are experiencing certain problems, they do not tell people who can assist them. Instead, they keep the problems to themselves. When angry, they do not react in any way instead, they keep quite. Some of the youths however develop externalization problems. This is whereby when faced with problems, they direct them to the others. When in anger, they may react by shouting or beating the people who have angered them. This is what causes the aggressive behavior is are common among the affected girls. Violent activities such as fighting with others are a common behavior among the girls.
The girls who mature at early stages have a tendency to get engaged in sexual behaviors at very early stages. These girls have been observed to have strong feelings that make them indulge in dangerous sexual behaviors. It is important to note that not all of these girls engage in this behavior (Guo Cheng, 2012).
The social characteristics of the girls who mature at very early ages have been observed to change abruptly when the girls experience signs of early poverty. The relationship between these girls and the family members becomes very poor. There is tendency to have conflicts with the family members from time to time. The friends that these girls had before are lost. These girls start having friends that are older than them. These girls however maintain very few friends (Guo Cheng, 2012).
Early puberty influences the rate of metabolic activities of the girls during adulthood. It has been observed that the girls who experience early puberty have high metabolic rates in their bodies even at adulthood. This is dangerous to their health in that it increases the chances of suffering from various diseases such as cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. This high metabolic rate is caused by the amount of glucose and fats that are found in the bodies of these children (Widén, 2012).
Research has shown that girls who mature at very early ages have the behavior of having relationships with boys who are older than they are. This is what leads to the increased chances of engaging in sexual activities. The interest in sexual activities is associated with hormones that are produced in the body of the girls.
In conclusion, early puberty among girls has negative effects to the girls. These effects however vary from one race to another. In addition, some girls who experience early puberty may not be affected by this occurrence. However, the greatest percentage of these girls is affected negatively. Some of the effects have long lasting effects to the girls while some of the effects reduce as the children grow. The behavior changes significantly with early maturity. The relationship between these girls and other people changes when the girls experience early poverty. Different girls however change their behaviors differently when they experience early puberty. Studies have shown that the diet that is consumed by the modern population (high intake of vegetable and animal proteins and the fats) is what causes early puberty.
