The Thomson Reuters released the list of 100 top hospitals in 2013 and each hospital candidate was evaluated according to 10 important areas of their health care systems. This includes the area involving patient safety, profitability, mortality, clinical standards, medical complications, readmission rates, expenses, patient satisfaction on their medical services, and post discharge mortality as among many others (Thomson Reuters, 2013). The Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas, Texas is one of the prestigious hospitals that were included in the list of the top 100 hospitals named by the Thomson Reuters. The hospital has a good track record for excellence in terms of their health care services and it was ranked by the U.S. News and World Report as the number one hospital in Dallas and number two hospital within the state of Texas because of their wide recognition for quality health care services in 12 areas of medical specialties and for treating challenging patient conditions (Baylor Health Care System, 2013). Carrying theflagship of the Baylor Health Care System, the hospital is slowly growing its organization and revenues as well. It has about 1,065 bed capacity with 5,500 employees and 1,013 medical professionals on its team of health care providers. In 2011, the university-hospital has earned a profit of approximately $2.29 billion. With the increasing numbers of employees and health professionals working on its organization and in consideration of its growing annual revenues, the Baylor University Medical Center is a progressive hospital institution that gradually grows its network of health care services and medical service specialty. The hospital carries with it its own core values of excellence that can be said to influence its success and eventually to work its way to be recognized as one of the top 100 hospitals in the world.
