A Descriptive Paper
I think nobody ever forgets their first rollercoaster ride. There is such a thrill experienced when one hears the shouts of dozens of scared and excited people from seats 50 feet or so above air. When you see the coaster at high speed hearing metals banging against each other rhythmically, it hypnotizes you instantly in a trance and makes you want to ride on it next.
I can describe my first time in this breathtaking ride in one word – thrilling. Trying to line up for a spot on the ride was probably the easiest part. All I needed was peer pressure to know that I was not alone in what I feel was a terrifying moment at that time. The long wait for my turn was the hardest. I could hear screams of clearly terrified people just above me. The metal wheels of the coaster speeding past above us felt like it might break any moment and come down at us. Yet glancing on the queue before me, all I could see were people with brightened faces and widespread smiles, talking and laughing their excitement and, safe to say, anxiety away. But how could I do the same when my nervousness was already at the back of my mouth?
It came then in one swift moment. We were ready to go in and jump to one of the carts. Needless to say, I was excited yet scared. The moment I took my seat on the ride and the braces were placed, all others became irrelevant. My heartbeat was more audible than the people below or the rides adjacent to ours – lub dub, lub dub. My hand trembled against the warm upholstery of the brace. The wind rustled through my hairs and my skin chilled of terror. When the operator went to his position to start the engine, I closed my eyes and breathed in. This was it.
The screams, including mine, were people’s adrenalines built up in everyone’s stomach finally seeing release. I did not know how long it was but then it stopped. I could finally breathe a little deeper and taste the sweetest sense of calm I have ever tasted. That feeling really never did go away. As I have said, nobody can really ever forget their fist roller coaster ride and even the next one and the next after that.
