The video illustrates a basic example of total quality management. TQM is a process which is used to improve the work productivity levels and efficiency. In this video, they have demonstrated cost savings, in terms of time and resources. If everyone at the workplace is involved in improving quality, then the positive results will be enjoyed by everyone. An unsatisfied customer does not only bad-mouth the company, but he/she also affects employee morale (Bagad, 2008).
The video also reveals that the technique of total quality management ensures that quality is maintained, and costs are optimized. If the work is clearly defined, and people take the responsibility of maintaining quality; consequently, the company benefits overall. Trusting relationships at the workplace can only be formed if every worker accepts his/her mistakes, and they improve themselves in a specific arena. Coordination, cooperation, and teamwork are essential in today’s business world. Through effective implementation of TQM companies can help in the development of characteristics that are associated with this method.
Total Quality Management ensures standardized performance throughout the company. This is of greater importance when the company has its operations in more than one region. Ensuring that every worker performs up to company standards, and that variances do not occur across regions is vital for business success. Furthermore, TQM also encourages workers to work together as a single unit which is working towards a single goal. It is important for employees to work towards a common objective, and through TQM management can be sure of this. However, TQM does not ensure success on its own. There are several other factors which contribute towards business success. In order to understand a business success all variables need to be taken into consideration.
