Touch of evil is an originally 1958 produced film that is based on ambiguities, fractures and unresolved tensions. It is one of the last film noir to be produced. The film is most famous for its opening scene where for three minutes we see one of the greatest takes in cinematic history, according to cinematic critiques. Lots of ambiguity is seen throughout the movie where we see one cop being rather unlawful planting evidence so as to prosecute certain people who he deems as guilty. This same policeman is said to work with another good policeman.
The good policeman was on a honey moon with his wife when all this drama unfolds. He leaves his wife at a motel which is ironically managed by one of the suspects he is pursuing. This motel is managed by a sex – crazed motel manager. Tension is revealed when the man being investigated by the good cop finds out that the cop’s wife is in one of his motel. He decides to use the newly wedded bride as a bargaining chip to force the cop into moving out of Mexico and back to America. “We’re gonna get him where it really hurts and without laying a hand on him. He's got a reputation. He's got a young bride. He's gonna leave this town wishing he and that wife of his had never been born” (Touch of Evil, 1958).
It is after the good policeman finds that his wife has been abducted that he resolves to save her and solve this case once and for all. At the end of the movies he finds the man responsible for kidnapping his wife, the men get into a shooting frenzy leaving one cop and the culprit dead.
