Traffic analysis may be defined as the method of examining and intercepting messages with the aim of extracting information from certain patterns in communication (Ricciato & Biersack, 2010). It can occur when messages are encrypted but can never be decrypted. The main significance of traffic analysis is based on prevention of traffic hackers from interfering with traffic flow.
Performing a traffic analysis on once computer is equally significant. To an individual a computer acts as an information bank where one hides his treasured documents and information (Ricciato & Biersack, 2010). I usually operate in a highly trafficked network, where a lot of information from my computer may be lost to the rest of the users. There have been cases in my trafficked network where individuals have lost extensive and extremely sensitive data. Therefore, maintaining security of logs is extremely significant in ensuring one’s data is safe. Maintaining secure logs has sustained my data safe and free from network hackers.
Following the adverse challenges that may occur if traffic takes too long without an analysis it would be advisable to conduct network analysis once per week. The main reason for this suggestion is following the extensive inventions that are taking place and many people are out trying new things from time to time. Weekly analysis of the traffic would aid in eliminating any opportunity for hacking that may occur.
During the analysis one of the main things that would be done to the logs is to change passwords and s if possible. Usernames and passwords are the gateway to safe logs (Ricciato & Biersack, 2010). Therefore, changing them from time to time would be extremely significant in securing the traffic.
Hackers are individuals who will always try to get illegal access to certain system that is protected through passwords. Therefore hacking is extremely common in networks as well as in services. The main reason for this is following the quench for hackers to gain access or control of certain traffics through which they may attract some income (Ricciato & Biersack, 2010).
