Introduction
The facilitator of the training will introduce himself and facilitate the introduction of all other team members. Members will be required to identify themselves by their names, the department that they work in and the professional skills and experience that they possess.
Objectives
The facilitator will ask all the team members present to identify the personal objectives that they hope to achieve by the end of the training session. He will then outline in summary the objectives that are expected to be achieved by all the members attending the training session.
Rules to be followed
The facilitator will outline the rules that are to be followed during the team building session and make clear the results or punishment that will be given in cases of deviation.
Timeline
The facilitator will share with the members of the team building training session the timetable for the session. This will enable every participant to be in the know regarding the expected usage of time resources available to for every task in the session.
The team building will be conducted in one day and will last for eight day hours. There will be several tasks which will be outlined in the timetable and allocated time as appropriately.
There will be teams for the members who will be attending the training session. The composition of the teams will be random and team members will not have a say on which team they will be joining since the allocations will be done through balloting. Each team will be expected to work in sync with each other. Members of each team will be required to choose from among themselves a team leader and an assistant team leader who will coordinate the activities of the team. Full participation of team members in team activities will be expected.
There will be facilitators conducting various sessions of the team building effort. Each facilitator will be responsible for a particular topic and will be experts in the field that they will be undertaking. They will be allocated time with each of the team and will be expected to adhere to this time allocation to the minute.
The sessions will be dealing with various issues affecting the participants of the company. There will be sessions dealing with motivation, time keeping, social relationships in the workplace and relationships with superiors. There will be a session where the participants will be required to articulate the issues that they feel should have been tackled in the team building sessions and give their opinions on the various issues that will have been raised.
After the team sessions have been done with, there will be a manual task which will involve physical competition among the teams. The members of each team will be expected to work together to complete this tasks. Winners of each task will be rewarded.
There will be two physical tasks for the team building session. Each team will be expected to complete a crossword puzzle within twenty minutes. The contributions of each member will be necessary to ensure the successful completion of this task. The other task will be a handball game where a team will be chosen to compete with others. The winner will be rewarded.
After the team building sessions, participants will be expected to draw up a list of the lessons learnt and the expected benefits both in the short term and in the long term. Recommendations will also be welcome from the participants on how such future sessions can be conducted more fruitfully.
Objectives of Training Session and how they will be achieved
Creating a bond for the group is one of the objectives of the training session. Members will be expected to know each other and be able to share and have a sense of being in the same team. To achieve this, ample time will be provided for introductions and for the participants to mingle socially.
The second objective will be to align the participants with the shared organizational objectives, goals and targets. This will be achieved through the use of training sessions in which the participants will be made aware of the organizational objectives, goals and strategies and their input towards achieving the same made clear to them.
The establishment of leaders will be an objective of the training. This will be through the various tasks of the team building effort through which the important role that leadership plays in the organizational mechanism. This will enable the participants appreciate the leadership in the organization.
Another objective will to establish to the participants the short term and long term goals of the organization. This will be achieved through making them aware of the goals that the organization wants to achieve and how they can participate towards the achievement of these goals.
Increasing the business knowledge is an objective of the team building training session. This will enable the participants appreciate the business that the organization conducts and have an in depth knowledge of the ways they can contribute professionally towards the business.
Encouraging the team participants to take a more open approach to problem solving, innovation and leadership for specific problems that may be faced in the organization will also be an objective of the session. This will be achieved through the professional facilitation that will be conducted throughout the session.
Each of the objectives will be determined through an written summary from the participants in which they will indicate the lessons learnt from the sessions, the organizational changes that they desire and measures that can be taken to improve organizational performance. A rating will be required for the sessions so that a measure of the success of the team building training session can be objectively conducted.
