Tribal Art Show Essay Sample

After visiting the Tribal Art show in San Francisco, I was most impressed by African art. There were figurines and masks that have many meanings related to the African cultural heritage. This visit inspired me to think about the elements of earth and I ended up admiring the creativity of African people.
Since this is a tribal art show, there were tribal masks and warrior-like figures that are related to African tradition. People who presented these artifacts were also dressed in traditional African clothes. They were very welcome and nice towards the visitors and were happy to answer all the questions. African tribal art is extremely interesting because there are meanings behind each piece of art and they convey the spirit of the people and the land as well as of the whole continent and its climate. African tribal art is usually made of wood as well as other materials that come from nature. There are sculptures and there is pottery also, but the masks make African art so alluring. There are numerous styles and sometimes religious entities are represented. Also most of these figures, which are reproductions, can be bought as souvenirs by tourists. African art is very popular around the world and people from Africa have exhibitions all over the world in order to share their cultural heritage.
It was exciting to see the combination of various tribal art pieces from exotic cultures and African culture stands out as creative and mysterious. The art work consists of figures and masks mostly and there are figures which represent warriors. All of this is a great experience and I feel that I have enriched my culture by visiting this show. I can relate to African Tribal art because it is primal and people can learn much from it even though they might have never been to Africa. The point was to convey the spirit of magic that exists in Africa and in their culture and tradition and this was a success because people were observing the figures with great interest. There was much to learn, but even more to be felt by looking at the artifacts from Africa and the true spirit of the continent could be seen and experienced. It is as if the whole continent was presented through the art show. The experience was educational and it made me want to visit Africa and see this art in its natural surroundings. I wanted to meet people who make art as well. People in Africa are artistic and they cherish their tradition and culture because they want to preserve their cultural identity. That is what makes African art unique and interesting for foreign people. It is also strange that people from other cultures and parts of the world can related to African art as well, but this is possible because these masks and figures provoke the same emotions from different people. This art inspires feelings and people recognize that which is why Africa is attractive to people. African art is creative and people who are members of different tribes are artists. Masks are intriguing and mysterious because people give their own interpretation and meaning to them while watching them. It is much like listening to music because everybody feels something but in a different way and the whole experience is very intense.
