Personal Statement
I was dismissed from Trinity Law School for having a low Grade Point Average (GPA). As a student, constantly striving to become better, my dismissal from law school was a devastating blow to my self-confidence. However, it took me time to learn life’s hard lessons. Despite my efforts to learn the coursework, I was not academically focused for the demanding field of law. I know it will be a challenge to be readmitted into law school, but I am now prepared to become a successful law student. My academic dismissal from law school has made me determined to improve.
In the past couple of months, I have spent countless hours perfecting my legal writing and approach to law school exams. I will use my failure as motivation to continue improving myself academically. I have partnered with private tutors to help me in legal analysis and improve my legal writing. I will make it a habit to practice my legal coursework daily to further ingrain the principles and theories I learn in class. My improvement in legal writing and dedication to legal studies makes me hopeful that I could achieve what I truly want in life - I can become a successful law student.
In addition, in my previous law school, I interacted with students from diverse legal backgrounds and learned a lot. This will be an invaluable resource when tackling case studies. My professors always motivated me to improve as a student by challenging my knowledge of the law. They further provided stimulating course work to enhance my legal analysis and studies.
In the semester preceding my dismissal, I had an overwhelming personal schedule that did not allow me to concentrate on my studies. My family was struggling financially because my father had lost his job. I would work numerous hours to pay the mortgage and help with other domestic bills. I did not have the time to concentrate on school since my focus at the time was in making ends meet at home. This reflected in my academic results. My GPA was a reflection of the division of my time and not an accurate reflection of my academic capacity. I now realize that it was a mistake to serve two time demanding masters – full time law school and work.
My GPA will dramatically improve since I have gained the writing skills to become successful. In addition, my father has since found a permanent and reliable job so I can focus on my studies. I have the will, work ethic, and dedication to undertake my legal studies. If Trinity Law School gives me the opportunity to become a law student, I promise to give my best effort to my studies. I am ready to become a successful law student and look forward to your readmission letter accepting me back.
