This 102 Minutes that changed America documentary is about the terrorist attack on the Tuesday morning of September 2001. The terrorist hijacked four planes and two of those plains were intentionally flown to the south and North towers of the World trade center in the city of New York. The documentary clearly shows how the terror episode began. It shows how people were running up and down in confusion trying to escape the building that was dangerously oozing smoke. The documentary also shows the onlookers who were viewing from a distance of the terror event with faces filled with shock as some uttered the only words that could form in their lips at that moment “Oh my god”.
The documentary is quite amazing as it shows slowly by slowly the building going down from the huge fire that could not be controlled. The fire become dangerously intense after the second plane hit the building. At this moment the police were trying to evacuate everyone they could from the building and the buildings around and also the streets. This could be viewed very clearly from the documentary footage. The two planes which were involved in the terror attack are known to be United Airlines Flight 175 and American Airlines Flight 11. Within two hours both towers had collapsed. The documentary shows the intense security that was brought, fire fighters, ambulances to help aid those who will be rescued and various agencies who could lend a hand in the emergence. This documentary is considered very powerful though it is only one hundred and two minutes long. The documentary shows the images which still remain vivid in our heads of ensuing smoke and fire, plans crashing into buildings and the crush of Twin Towers itself.
The documentary also shows very touching especially with the onlookers staring at the horror with their mouths agape, hands on their heads, tears in others eyes and yet there was nothing they could do to help. The strain that they went through during those minutes of terror could be seen clearly in their faces and eyes and also those of others watching television could be seen when the camera focuses on their faces. Most of the people in those buildings were great people who have proved to be more than civil servants since they represented much more than mankind can offer. Tears well up in people’s eyes as the documentary shows vivid images of people from the building try to waive items from the windows while they cry for help and yet no one could reach them.
The documentary shows the world what the terrorist attack did to us and how lives of innocent people was destroyed just because of some evil people among us who do not believe in unity. The tragedy left children without parents, husbands without their wives, wives without their husbands and parents without their children. Friendships, brotherhood and sisterhood were all cut shot for these victims and their relatives. All these are touching events that leave us with broken and heavy hearts and cries for the families of the victims. In such tragedies it is easy to forget the devastating personal event for those who are left behind. We watch the events from the safety of our houses but at some point it takes a work like this in the documentary to give us a reminder of the human toll.
