This is a condition that shows some or all symptoms that are different other types of mood disorders. Diagnosing a person with this disorder is challenging as it presents assorted or some of the symptoms. However, the signs and symptoms can be well seen and established. In the context of manifestation, the main signs and symptoms of the unspecified depressive disorder are insomnia and lack of sleep. The person suffering from this disorder may have habitual sleeplessness where one sleep for only very few hours and they are satisfied. However, it is acknowledgeable that insomnia is a sign that characterize most conditions especially ones affecting the brain. Another pronounced sign include extended periods of time of sadness. This is whereby after doing something wrong or irritating to the person, he or she may get sad for even a period of two weeks or more. Lack of interest in life and pleasurable things like sex, hobbies is another symptom of this disorder. The person is always in an annoyed mood and has no interest in anything other than just staying idle in a bored mood. A person suffering from this disorder may also have eating problems. They may eat too much or just take a little food, and they are full. Finally, a person may also have suicidal thoughts or even attempts. Since the person views life as useless, he or she may try to commit suicide (American Psychiatric Association, 2015).
Treating the unspecified depressive disorder is challenging due to problems in diagnosis and its diverse nature. The best person who can deal with this disease is the psychologist. Therefore, psychotherapy is one of the best ways to treat this disease. So far, psychotherapy is the only proven method which can cure this mental disorder. Its treatment involves a daily or weekly process where the patient gets the help and support he or she should face on their daily or weekly basis. There are also online therapists who can help treat this disorder. The disorder can be managed when aspects that are altering the normal brain function are addressed. The management is often done online, where the patient books sessions with the therapist and availing oneself at the stated time for help (American Psychiatric Association, 2015).
Unspecified depressive disorder is a complicated condition because classifying it under the distinct categories of mental illnesses is hard. In this respect, it is difficult to identify the cause of this disorder. However, it is very dangerous especially when it reaches to a point of committing suicide. Therefore, when its signs and symptoms are noted, the patient should seek for treatment immediately.
